VideoWave crash whem MyDVD burn button pressed

DJ Images

Question

Hello. I've had emc 5 and 7, and now 9. I created a project in VideoWave, brought it to MyDVD, did my menus from marks I did in VideoWave (nice feature!), and go to make an ISO but as soon as I click the burn button I get the VideoWave has a problem and must close notification. I loaded emc9 onto my wife's 4 year old comp, burnt one ISO, checked it, did a few corrections, tried another and got the same thing, VideoWave stopped working.

My comp is a new HP 3GHz, 1 gig ram, dual 120gig HD (40 gig avail). Video is updated ATI Radeon Xpress, DirectX is updated to 10. Vista home basic. Hers is an old slow HP.

I read back to page 13 with no more luck.

HELP!

DVD Flick is an open source program I downloaded to see if my computer was working. No relation to Roxio.

I can get my DVD done for my customer, but outputing it fron VideoWave, importing it to another program (DVD Flick) to convert it to an ISO then using roxio copy to burn that to a DVD is rather time consuming and a hassle besides. Thank you for your help though.

It's been along time but I thought the activation was in more than one program. That's why I asked "In what application".

I have no idea what DVD Flick is or why My DVD is giving you the crash or error!

It won't work on my new Vista, or her older XP (did work once on hers).

I built the project in VideoWave, then imported it to MyDVD to do menus and burn (or try to).

I mention the VideoWave has a problem and must close because that's the error. According to other posts here, VideoWave has the renderer that is used when burning a DVD. (screenshot follows)

Did you have a check in the box to the left of Save disc image file? There isn't one in your attached screenshot.

Also, uncheck the box to the left of where the default is to burn to a DVD.

As soon as I click the burn button from MyDVD, the burn windo shows up and then the error message, I can't click any of the selections because of the error. When I click close, it does. everything Roxio closes.

I've been making DVDs for customers since 2003 using Roxio and before that for myself using TMiNC (the open source core programs, may have the initials wrong, it was a while ago :D )

Dennis,

the MYDVD 9 screen top left doesn't show a project like MYDVD 9 Untilted* (DVD).

Move the error screen and take another screen capture of the whole MyDVD window, with the burn project window showing.

The title of the project disappears when the error occurs. The error message is behind the burn screen, but moves to the front when I press ctrl PrtScn for the screen shots. Here are the screen shots...

before:

2a_before.jpg

original message right after I click burn, validate is done, and burn screen appears (I pulled the error to the right):

and the message after windows thinks about it...

No, as soon as I click the burn button, it validates (good), the burn screen opens, the MyDVD window goes light, the error message appears behind the burn window. The only thing I can click on is the close program button.

Dennis,

the box burn to disc is not checked and no drive is showing in the drive box. Can you or will it allow you to check the box, burn to disc?

Dennis,

try another file Iso, completely different from what your trying to burn. Make it a small file no menus and see if you can check the box then. Then try to reload the file your having trouble with and see what happens and if the box stays checked.

OK, MyDVD, add slide show, added 4 fireworks pixs, back to MyDVD, clicked burn, same thing. Using MyDVD Express, pressing create disc, I get an error for roxwizardlauncher:

Dennis,

Has the EMC 9 program ever asked to activate the mpeg2 component used for DVD authoring/encoding, on either PC?

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=12074

Are you doing this on the Vista Home or HP, XP PC?

I did notice the Corel paint shop pro window open with EMC 9. I would close unnecessary processes when using Videowave or My DVD.

Are you accessing the programs from the Home screen or start all programs, Roxio EMC 9, video, Videowave or My DVD?

If none of the above works your EMC 9 program seems to be broke, Have yiou tried a repair from add remove programs in control panel? Or a clean uninstall reinstall of the program?

OK, I did the clean uninstall procedure I found in a different post (removing folders, editing the registry, all that).

This time it did do the activation, but still no joy.

I can use video wave to make straight videos (did an mpg2 and avi) but no burn from MyDVD.

It didn't ask after I reinstalled.

In what application?

Same as above?

Open other apps like Creator Classic and Disc Copier. Do those apps see the Drives? In Device Manager are the drives showing? What are the drive ID strings in Devive manager or look in DVDInfo Pro.

Not in order, here are your answers...

Currently I'm working on my Vista home basic comp. Same problem on wife's XP though.

I had corel up for the multiple screen shots, but I've tried with everything I could think of turned off (wallpaper changer, IM, etc).

I've tried from all programs, the roxio desktop icon (home), and from clicking on the project. Same results everywhere. Crashes from MyDVD Express or MyDVD.

Did a n uninstall (UAC is a pain!) and reinstall, and it didn't ask to activate mpg2. Tha article you linked to doesn't tell how to force activation.

still the same problem. It's nothing to do with the drive. As soon as I click burn, before any settings can be changed, videowave crashes.

I can output from videowave, make an ISO using DVD Flick, and use Roxio to burn the ISO to disc. but MyDVD, or MyDVD Express will not get past the point when I press burn.

Finally works! After several uninstalls and re-installs, using various procedures I found in these forums, I received a reply from my webticket submitted July 25. On Aug 2 they asked what system I had, what the error message was, etc (I referred to this thread in the original ticket, I guess they don't have time to read them?). I answered on Aug 2. Today I received 2 replies! Not knowing in what order to do them, I verified the up-to-dateness of DirectX, video , Then turned off all startup/services/UAC, did the uninstall, reinstall, tested, turned on some services, tested, turned on more, etc until all back on. Still worked. Then, to get Drag to Disc working, I had to install the DLA compatibility patch, and a final reboot and test. Now what to do with all those little ISO files littering my desktop?

Here's the replies from Roxio:

Some confusion here. Which computer are your having problems with, and you must be trying to burn from MyDVD, because VideoWave doesn't burn anything. Some clarification is needed.
