VideoWave Crashing when rendering- help

Kari Jones

Question

I just built my first project....very happy with everything...it has taken me atleast 24 hours to do.

Project is about 25mins long.

I am distressed to find out that I can't render it to MPEG File. The rendering process crashes my laptop.

I have tried a number of times, it crashes in various places.

It got to 75% then blew up this morning.

Please can you advise.

I am running off 2GB RAM, I have 3GB of free disk space plus a large external drive.

Recently did a disk clean up.

I have read posts on switching off Norton, I will try this, this evening....any other ideas are appreciated.

Do I need to do an upgrade?

Thanks,

Kari

3GB is not near enough.

cd

I think the program has to have at least 4 GB on your main hard drive to store the files as it renders.

Part of the reason that it's taking so long to render is that it's reading and writing from that external drive.

My guess would be that it's crashing when your 2 GB RAM is full and it can't read and write fast enough to the external drive.

If there is any way you can free up around 5 GB on your laptop's hard drive and render to that drive, that will not only speed up the process, but probably prevent it from crashing. (10 GB would be better)

Please let us know what happens. :)

I wil try a defrag as well.

I am running my project and collection files on my external hard drive, which has a significantly more space.

Does this issue occur in version 9.0??

Thanks,

Kari

It shouldn't happen in V7! Default temp locations, from tools options or file project settings. Usually put them on the C drive. Like sister says, 3GB is not near enough.

cd
