Cannot burn CD/DVDs

I am getting desperate

Using the Sonic Digital Media Plus v7.

After reading the source DVD it seems that the software does not propperly reads the target DVD (at least does not update the information) and "thinks" the target DVD is full.

 

Already checked/done:

1) Sonic Digital Media Center de-installed and re-installed

2) Computer rebooted

3) Drive de-installed and re-installed (incl. drivers)

4) No new firmware for drive available

 

Step-by-step description

1) Start -> myDVD Plus

2) Copy -> Disc-Copy (in German: Disc-Kopie)

3) Source DVD gets read, information in lower left hand corner: Logical Volume, Identifier, 1.0 GB used

4) Reading finished, request to insert empty or rewritable target DVD

5) Empty target DVD inserted

6) Information in lower left hand corner does NOT change (meaning although an empty DVD is inserted the software still "thinks" there is a DVD inserted with 1.0GB used).

7) Error message appears (not enough space)

 

Any ideas appreciated!
