PCIe-e power extension cable

My computer was so nicely constructed that all the power cables run from the power source to the back side of the mobo. They are nicely tied off in tight little bundles.

I want to put in a new higher power video card that requires a six pin power connection. My power supply has that PCIe power supply outlet connection. Guess what, I found it bundled in this all the other cables on the back side of the mobo. I would rather not cut all the cable ties and re-thread all the wires so that the 6 pin connection can reach the new video card.

Anyone know of somewhere I can get a 6 pin to 6 pin PCIe-e extension cable 18 to 24 inches long?

Steve, I would think you would find anything you need at Newegg.com. If not, maybe tigerdirect.com. Finally, one of the power supply manufacturers might have what you need. Of course, your local computer store may also supply this or maybe even Radio Shack.

If it were me, I'd use the one you already have and just get a new tie and put it back like it was, where it was. I'm sure you can manage to still be neat. :D

I don't know if you can get extensions, but what you can do is get a bunch of cable ties - sort which is the PCI-e lead, slip a new tie UNDER that and tighten - then cut the old one so the needed cable is free - work back along the lead and repeat. That way, the original bundle stays intact

Just be thankful that braiding cables went out years ago

Steve,I googled it and found a few but most were in the 8" range.I haven't seen one longer than that so far.

Found one - 12 inch long but the company (computer shop) will build me a 24 inch one for $5 more.

Thanks, I like to take the easy way out! ;)
