Video Editing

Question

You can "cut out" section of the large video file in Videowave. Then output it in a format that you need (e.g., mpg). Do this process as many times as you need to extract all sections you need.

PS: Sorry, earlier, I made the mistake of clicking the Edit button in your post instead of the Reply button. Hence, my reply became part of your post which I rectified immediately.

HI AGAIN I still havent learned.

I dont know how your quote got in my current topic but is certainly applicable. Jeremiahs thread had yours and other statements that what he &I want "can" be done, but he & I still unsure how to do them in VW7.

Tell us again (or refer to when you already told me):

How to use VW 7 to

Take out/save chunks to shorten it or for separate use.

Copy/takeout/savve small snippets for insertion slide shows or videos.

Ive understandably given up on VW 9 and/or my 54 min video. Either one could be at fault and im looking to find outin paralllel to VW7 slideshow that got sidetracked by my VW9 fiasco. I already got some test Youtube video into VW 7 but forgot how to chop it up the way I want. VW9 wouldnt take the same video!

First, you need to understand that you never change the original video when you edit in VideoWave.

So, you can use the same video in many different productions. If you make note of the time where the video you want to use starts and ends, you can just put the video onto a storyline. Then "Split" the video in the Timeline view where you want it to start and end. Delete the parts you don't want.

The other way is to put the video on the storyline, adjust the duration to the time that you want to begin and end the video, the do a File\ Output production to...... and choose the type of video file that you want (DVD authoring/ best or DV AVI.)

*edit*

The file output will give you a new movie.

It only lets me split it once, then gives message "cant do it, etc"

How do you determine the MINIMUM size segment you can split?. I keep getting an error message.

For smaller segments, use Adjust Duration and 'mark' the frame where you want the segment to begin or end.

Hope that helps. :)

I believe that message occurs if you try to do a split within 10 frames of another split or within 10 frames of the beginning or end of a video clip.

I agree and in that case, you need to click on the Adjust Duration and 'mark' the frame where you want the clip to begin or end.
