Intel macpro,2.66ghz,2gig ram,

I want to make sure this is the same issue. You are saying that Toast crashes as soon as you try to add a video to the Video window. Or is it crashing at some other point? What kind of video is it? Have you tried adding it using the Media Browser instead? Is there any problem using the Audio or Data windows with files that are appropriate to those?

No everything else seems to be ok,it's just when adding .avi files to the video folder, either draging or using the media browser, after a couple of seconds a small wathch appears and then the beachball of death and i have to force quit!

Thanks for the reply and hope this info helps narrow down the problem.

If you have the perian Quicktime codec installed, trash it. Then download and install the current version of perian at perian.org. Check the description there about what codecs it encompasses because you may be able to delete other third party codecs. Then relaunch Toast.

Please post in full english sentances. Have you tried reinstalling Toast? Has this problem always been present? What changes did you make to your computer if it only recently started doing this?

Sorry.....Yes. I have reinstalled and cancelled preference . nothing it has been changed.

If it isn't Toast then something else must need fixing on your Mac. Use DiskWarrior if you have it or at least run First Aid from Disk Utility.

On my mac all is ok!!

So you've eliminated the Mac as the problem and completely reinstalled Toast which works fine on most Macs. Do you have any external audio or video devices connected? Have you installed any third party QuickTime codecs? If you have any third party codecs installed remove them and see if that solves the problem. Then add each one back to see which one is giving Toast problems. A couple users reported problems with an early release of Perian 1.0 although I've had no problem with the current Perian release.

I had perian from months and no problems. I have removed the perian component in Library>Quicktime and toast is OK.

NO perian NO problem.

Thanks!!!!!

Hey, trashing the "Perian.component" sorted out my similar problem.

Please can you explain why this problem exists?

Thanks again

Sorry but I understand little about why stuff works or doesn't work. I just know a lot about troubleshooting.
