Creating the CD

artndl

Question

I have created a slideshow (VCD) with music in MyDVD [it is a .dmsd file]. I want to convert this to a file that I can burn to a CD so it can be viewed into different computers.

Here are things that I have tried:

1. Burning CD as is- just burns project file- unreadable elsewhere

2. I read somewhere that I should be able to go to FILE>OUTPUT to convert the file. When I go to FILE>, OUTPUT is in shadow and unavailable.

3. I have gone into VideoWave and tried to open the project, but it does not recognize the .dsdm file.

4. I am able to create a slideshow in VideoWave, render it, and burn it to disc and it works just fine, but it is so much easier to create something in MyDVD.

Bonus Question: How can I burn this so it always automatically comes up on all computers?

I just bought this program a couple of days ago and am trying to help my sister create slideshows on CD's for the houses she is sellling. I am really impressed with the gurus that are on this board! Thanks in advance for you help!

Go to file->Burn in MyDVD. It will burn the file as a DVD disc with menus. And it should be equally easy or difficult to do what you did in MyDVD as compared to Videowave (Actually, it should be easier in Videowave).

As for automatically coming up on different computers, that is up to the individuals settings. You can put an autorun.ini file on a data disc, and that will dictate what gets run when you first put in the disc, however, you aren't creating a data disc.

Actually, VideoWave is the program that you should use for creating your project.

1. How did you try to burn to CD? If you set your project type to VCD when you started the project, then click on the burn icon and burn it to a disk.

2. Output is not available in MyDVD, but as you found, it is available in VideoWave.

3. You are correct. You can't open a .dmsd file in VideoWave, but you can open a VideoWave .dmsm file in My DVD. That is the way the software was designed.

4. I don't know how it is easier to create a production in MyDVD, but if it works for you, that is all that counts.

Bonus question. Same as answer in 1.

Thanks for the quick response!

The issue that I have when I do the burn, I end up with a CD with a bunch of file folders and not one video file.

File folders: CDI, MPEGAV, VCD, EXT, SEGMENT.

That is the standard structure for a VCD Disc. The actual video is in the .dat files on there. The rest of it is basically all the information that a VCD compatible player (standalone or software player on a pc) needs so it can play the disc.

If all you really want is a video file of you slide show on a disc, then as noted already, you cannot use MyDVD, you have to use Videowave for your project and output it ot a file that you can then burn to a disc using Creator Classic.

File folders: CDI, MPEGAV, VCD, EXT, SEGMENT.

Your video is in the MPEGAV folder as AVSEQ01.DAT or MUSIC01.DAT

To play place the svcd-vcd in a drive. Open WMP and click file, open, from the drop down box, 'Look In', navigate to the drive, highlight it and some folders should show up. Click the MPEGAV folder click open, then 'from file of type' at the bottom of WMP click Any File and a AVSEQ01.DAT or MUSIC01.DAT file should appear. highlight it and click open and WMP should play the file in any pc.
