WD MY BOOK NOW AVAILABLE IN HUGE 2 TB CAPACITY

I have had my MyBook for a few months (1TB). I have it configured for Raid 1 (mirrored) so I only get 500Gb out of it but the data is secure.

I am real happy with it so I give it a thumbs up if anyone was thinking about purchasing a Mybook.

Anyone know how to get it apart? I found disassembly instructions but for the 1st generation. Mine looks the same but what is supposed to be there in the way of hidden screws and clips isn't.

If anyone is interested, I also have a D-Link DNS-323 which is a NAS device (network attached storage) and you supply your own drives. The 323 uses SATA drives and there are no cables or screws. The drives just slide into the bays and automatically engage the connectors. It's pretty cool.

I had 2 I-books (500gb) each that I tore apart to put into a 4 disk external E-SATA case. One was easy. The second wasn't. Probably the second gen you mentioned. Internally, they are SATA, and in my case were WD5000YS drives. By the way, the external case I got has it all over any of the regular external setups. It is hot swappable, will hold 4 drives totaling up to 3TB, (maybe more now), has a E-sata card if you do not have a external plug on your box, and can be configured as a big drive, just a bunch of drives, RAID, or any combination. It is one of the AMS Venus boxes.
