Insert Editing

fgvideo

Question

I want to insert a new video clip over existing video footage. For example, I have a shot of a person talking and I want to insert cutaway shots to break it up and make it more interesting; but I don't want the audio from the new footage -- I want the original audio to play straight through. Can this be done with Videowave?

Yes, insert that second video(s) as overlay(s) and drag it (them) to the right place. You can even resize it if you wish to show both the original video and the video on the overlay track. The overlay track audio will not play.

Thanks for the tip. It didn't work at first when I was trying to copy and paste a clip from the production timeline into the overlay track; but it worked when I imported the same file as an overlay and trimmed it down. In another forum I learned that if you click on the red button in the overlay editing mode, the overlay will fade in and out, just as if you had used the dissolve transition. Very nice.
