Video Wave TRANSITIONS

zee

Question

Hello,

I just installed EMC9 Deluxe; previously had EMC7. I did a clean install per Roxio instruction and everything appears to be working well, though I haven't done a lot of testing yet. I was able to sucessfully create a slide show and burn it to disk even though I am running WMV11 and IE7 on XP, which is good news considering some of the other posts that I have read.

My question is in regards to Video Wave TRANSISTIONS. When I click on "Add Transistions", I get a list of transistion categories; Reveals, Pushes & Slides, Page Turns, 3D, Particless, Distorts, Custom. PROBLEM is that PAGE TURNS, 3D and DISTORTS are all "empty. Does anyone else have this problem? Also how do you add "CUSTOM" transistions because it doesn't show any transistions for that category either.

One of my favorite transistions in EMC7 was PAGE ROLLS. Doesn't that transistion exist in EMC9 Deluxe; if it doesn't, that is very unfortunate. It also appears that I can't add RANDOM transistions to ALL the slides; EMC7 did have that option. Is adding RANDOM transistions available in EMC9-Deluxe?

I also installed the "Content" disc that came with EMC9-Deluxe. On the disc it said that it includes "professional special effects and transistions", but where are they?

From what I have seen so far, it appears that EMC9-Deluxe has less transistions and transistion options than EMC7. I can't believe that is the case. I must be missing something.

Hopefully someone on this forum can help me. I have contacted Roxio Support, but I received the standard support answer; reinstall software. I don't believe reinstalling the software is going to solve my problem.

Thanks for any help you can offer me.

It has at least as many transitions as the standard package, but if you are using software rendering, then a lot are just not available.

What graphics card are you using? This determines whether or not you can use hardware rendering with the extra transitions

If EMC 9 determines that your videocard is below the minimum requirement then it will set itself to render using Software instead of Hardware. If Software is set as the renderer then certain transitions and effects, such as the ones you mentioned, will be disabled. You can try enabling Hardware rendering by going to Tools > Options in Videowave and/or MyDVD and see if it works, however if you run into problems like encoding videos hangs at 0% or other problems, then you'll have to use Software rendering.

gi7omy & Liqvid,

Thanks for your help. It appears that you have identified the problem I am having. I switched my setting to enable hardware and the missing transistions showed up. It is unfortunate that Roxio support could not have supplied me with this information when I contacted them, but I have found that you can not expect much help from most software company support staff. (Roxio Support - sorry if this comment makes you feel bad).

After I changed my setting in video wave to enable hardware, I previewed the slideshow but the transistions did not run very smoothly which would, I imagine indicate that my videocard is not up to speed. I have a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 video card. Can you recommend a videocard that I should upgrade to?

I'm running XP Pro - Version 2002- SP2

Dell Demension 8300

Pentium 4CPU 260GHz

2.59 GHz, 512 MB RAM

I would recommend that first you go to Nvidia's site and update the drivers for that card. I've used that card on some of my systems and it has worked fine with the latest 94.24 drivers. Make sure you follow there hints about uninstalling the current drivers first.

Hi Larry,

I finally found the time to upgrade my videocard drivers. I ran into problem when I tried to upgrade to the 94.24 drivers. I did some checking on NVIDIA website and it appeared that 93.71 were the correct drivers for my computer so I installed them. Everything turned out great. I now have all the Roxio Video Wave transistion and they are running smoothly. I am one happy camper! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!

Zee

You're welcome. So did updating the driver help?
