izr
i redownloaded loaded the file again with firewall and other security features turned off or on lower settings but still had the same problem. Will try with winrar and winzip tonight I'm running Vista Home Premium. Also at the download screen it says winXP/2000? Thanks for your help. I hope its the Vista Version, at the download screen or through the purchase of the software i didn't see anything asking for what operating you required as they advertised EMC9 as Vista Certified but on looking at their advertisement under the learn more TAB and Minimum System Requirements Vista doesn't get a mention only the XP operating systems. Anyway files are RoxioEMCDLXSuite9.1_r04.exe (610MB) RoxioEMCDLXContentCD9.1.exe (375) Cannot use Winrar or Winzip as the files are .exe files I can see this being a long and tedious task to install this software. I may be able to download again on another computer and try installing on this one if the download is being corrupted on mine, but i don't think that's the problem. Hi Back again, it looks like something is corrupting the download i tried running the windows clean uninstall program i just downloaded and got the same error, i turned off firewall and reset all security settings and tried again this time it worked. As I'm at the limit of my download allocation i will have to wait till after midnight here in Australia when my extra 4GB kicks in. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks Again. gi7omy
It did sound very like a corrupt .exe file from the way you described it - in a 'worst-case' scenario, contact Customer Services and explain what is happening and they will ship for a nominal fee the two files on CDs. You can open the exe files with winzip or winrar - right click and 'open with' will do it (they're actually self-extract archives)
chanseng
First thing now for you to do is to burn the two files to CD-Rs and put them somewhere safe (always handy in case you need to do a reinstall at any stage) If those who bougth v9 sometime back (v9.00 I think) going to get patch to 9.0+ version? The downloaded file isn't being shown as self extracting thats why winzip and winrar won't work. thanks again. Now off to customer service. gi7omy
'Too big for memory' is, 99.99% of the time. indicative of a corrupt .exe file. You will almost certainly have to download this again. However, check first to see if the file can be opened with winrar or winzip (it's a self-extracting archive file) - if so, extract the files to the desktop (in a folder) and run setup.exce from there. If they won't extract, then you have a corrupt download
who_are_you
Downloaded from another computer today and then installed on mine, ECM9 installed with out a hitch and everything seems to work. Yippeeeee!! (I Hope) See Ya! Now to find the bug causing the problems. I had a similar problem affecting all downloads. Files would download, but would not install. Download same files to another PC and would work fine. Trouble was caused by NIC (Network Interface Card) card, the onboard interface had quit and I installed a NIC. I had disabled the onboard interface so no conflict would occur but NIC still appeared to be the problem as problem did not start until I added the NIC. Everything else worked ok, email, surfing, etc, it was just downloads that did not work - not worth the time finding out why, just fixed problem. If you are using a NIC card rather than the onboard connection, you might try looking into that first. I replaced motherboard and problem went away. If you are using a NIC, make sure latest drivers installed or try another NIC (cheaper/easier than MB)
