HELP PLEASE Fatal Loop "Feature on removable disk"

Angry Customer

Question

For some reason Roxio 9 suddenly starts to install itself after sitting happily on my computer for six months.

It asks for "Roxio Easy Media 9..." CD disk. I purchased the download version so I have no disk.

So ... I go back to the original download and try to reinstall from there. But it says "Roxio.... " is already installed, used "Add Remove ... from Control Panel"

I go to Control Panel and try to uninstall. It asks for "Roxio Easy Media 9..." CD disk

1. Save me from over-smart programmers.

2. How do I get rid of this prorgram forever without damaging the rest of my system so I can usee Nero instead?

The alternative $35 for a support call .... for a $90 piece of software.

Help much appreciated.

Hmm, no telling what happened to your computer since it was successfully installed 6 months ago. You can do a search of the forums for the clean uninstall/install list. You should then be able to install it successfully, again.

The Windows Installer is trying to repair the EMC 9 install. For some reason it thinks there's a damaged or missing file, so it's looking for the EMC 9 .msi file so it can repair the install.

Since you have the download file, just extract it with a zip program like Winzip to a temp folder. then point the installer to there so it can repair your install, or point it to there if you want to uninstall it thru add/remove programs.

I don't know where you got the info that you would be charged for calling support for an EMC 9 product, as that doesn't appear to be the case based on this post.
