Burning Issues

bosslady

Question

I am so far an unhappy camper. I have tried everything I know but to throw this EMC 9 away. I first downloaded it from the internet. It didn't work. Then I went out and bought the CD and I had to install, uninstall and install it and it still doesn't let me BURN a DVD. I have called Roxio 3 times and they sent me fixes and I STILL can't BURN a DVD. The burn button won't light up for me to push after I check the BURN TO DISC button. All drivers and Filmware are updated PLEASE HELP ME. I have been at this program for a month now and still no pix to watch on TV. :angry2::angry2:

Maybe you have the same problem I do. It seems if you exceed the capacity of the DVD by recording too much on your hard drive, the burn to Disc does not light up/nor respond.

Also, My system responded better when I uninstalled and re installed the sound card..Don't ask me the steps to do this. I could work my way through it if needed I'm an old newbie

As suggested above, try using Disc Copier, and select the "Video Compilation" option to write your DVD. It will transcode as needed to fit your project to the disc.

Let us know if that works for you.

Believe it or not, the graphics system is also critical to DVD rendering

Right click anywhere on your desktop, go to properties and click on the settings tab and let us know thwe make and model of your video card (it will be named there)

I burn DVD's with this Plextor and have a slideshow but I wanted to be able to apply audio and to show on TV so this is the reason I bought this program.

Okey Dokey

I have a 2G 512mb Ram PC XP

I finially got the slideshow with audio figured out and I am trying to place this production on a DVD for TV which is why I bought this program.

This is a year plus amount of pix and it is to take 5 DVD's (alot of pix)

I have the slideshow up and I hit the BURN button and I then his the burn to DISC button and the BURN button on the bottom won't light up and operate. I have to CREATE A FOLDER SET which took 11 hours to do

and I don't know what that if far since I already have my production saved. It will validate only 1/4 of the way but maybe that is for only the first DVD (don't know.) It tells me I don't have enough room which I already know that because it is made for 5 DVD's. I have gone to pxengines and downloaded filmware and checked out for drivers and my plextor writer works. I even called Plextor to see if there was something they could do.

Need more info let me know. I only need help. I am at work during the day and I can't get another call into Roxio because they are closed when I get home and not open when I leave.

Thanx

How long, time-wise, is your slide-show/movie? Also, are you creating this using Videowave?

On regular, single layer DVD media, you can fit one hour of playback at the "Best" quality. So, if you're creating a 5 hour production, then you'll want to create it as five separate slideshows, one for each DVD. Alternatively, you could aim for dual-layer media and get two hours on each disc. Either way, you need to make the amount of time of your slideshow match the size of disc you're going to use.

Next recommendation, use Videowave to create your slideshow, then import that project into MyDVD, and burn to either the folder set, as you've done, or to an Image (.ISO) file, then write to disc using Disc Copier, which will compress the file (transcode) as needed to make it fit your disc.

It sounds to me like the reason your "Burn" button isn't going active is because you can't fit the amount of time from your production onto a single disc, and none of the video applications can automatically split it up across multiple discs. (No way to know how to handle menus, etc.)

Hope that helps!

A perfect start would be to post your computer specs so that we know what it is you're working with. And, it's also helpful to post exactly what steps you're taking to do what it is that's giving you a problem.

I do have them made into 5 different dvd's. I have a different menu pix for each. They are all called the same name but they are made into 5 with 4 different folders on each. If I change the name on all of them do you think this will help. When I selected all these folders, the program placed them in a different order so that they would fit on the dvd.

there is enough room on each dvd and I have only one set of 4 folders picked at a time to burn. If I name each dvd differently maybe this would help.

I didn't use videowave bc I just went to slideshow assistant and thought that was the way to make the production.

I will try to make only 1 dvd at a time. Thanx for your help. I will let you know if this works.

The Assistant has known problems. If you get squared away on this production, use VideoWave from now on.

You need to back up and go SLOW. Sound more like you are creating a data backup with Creator Classic and not MyDVD. MyDVD which creates a video to be shown on a TV can only create ONE DVD at a time.

It's always possible that you have several issues. Creating a video DVD does require space on the hard drive - at least 10GB to be safe. So perhaps we should start with cleaning up your computer. To get back some space you can save the pictures to DATA DVDS first and delete those from the hard drive. KEEP the images you need for the first DVD only. Once you clear up space, we can look at other possible issues.

When you're ready to makethe other DVDs, you can then delete the first DVD images and copy images for the second DVD back to the hard drive.
