A clean and reinstall

Well I followed John's instructions, did the regedit junk removed everything ROXEO and SONIC, rebooted and now reinstalled EMC 9,,, maybe I should say I tried to.. I must be getting old and senile, I went to Micto Technology Inst. in Houston, Tx in 1984, then did work for a few of the REAL BIG Computer firms, did not like having to carry a pager for 15 hours and getting paid for 8 so other things, but always in confusers, was a 10 node SYSOP on the DOS days, running DeskView with Lantastic for the 19 computers on line, then Gates asked us to beta Windows 95 and after that most of you all started getting into the computer world...

Now, I can NOT figure out what I am doing wrong, this PURCHASED at $71.14 from Digital River a CD (hard)Easy Medai Creator 9, it will NOT load,,, I have uninstalled and re-installed, NO GOOD, I can NOT get a hold of anyone,,, any suggestions?? Now I can not even use what I had before I started!! The only way I can burn a CD is over the wife's stove!!

Maybe that John at Roxio will contact me,, that may help...

"will not load" doesn't tell us much.

What error messages do you get?

At what point in the install do you get the error message?

What operating system do you have?

This is my list for a clean install. You must follow it exactly. After you reboot , make sure you have updated video drivers and the latest DirectX 9. Also VERY IMPORTANT!!

First, remove all Sonic/Roxio products using the Control Panel. Then remove these folders if they still exist. Some of these are hidden folders so the Windows option must be 'on' to view them.

C:\program files\roxio

c:\program files\sonic

c:\program files\common files\roxio shared

c:\program files\common files\sonic shared

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Roxio

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sonic

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Roxio

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Sonic

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Roxio

Then remove any IE cookies with Sonic/Roxio in this folder:

c:\document and settings\username\cookies

Then use a registry cleaner to remove any entries that may still exist. RegSeeker works well and it's free. It has a function to search for a string like 'Roxio'. Remove any entries that refer to Roxio or Sonic. BE CAREFUL! Removing other entries could seriously affect how Windows runs.

When finished, REBOOT the computer and reinstall EMC9.

Thanks everyone, I followed John's removel directions, and still problems, so MY REMOVE was to take the brand new computer back and get my money back for the Vista machine,, now all 4 of my machines on my network work great, I need to get hold of "Customer Service" at Roxio and get a refund on the software, that did NOT was to load...

Gang,,, I am not a stupid person, matter of fact I have been a Eoxio user for about 4 years,,, but when a program comes about that has this much problem,, I care NOT to be a Beta tester,, I use Adobe, I am a paid, registered user for almost all of them, Ulead's Photo Impact, MS Office, Genunine Fractals, Dreamweaver, Bryce, I thank you all for the help, but have Beta tested Windows 95 in January 1995, and an avid user of DeskView, Lantastic, (back in the DOS day's) what can I say.. I wish it had worked, but now do not have the Lightscribe drive anymore,, guess I will go out and buy one,, maybe, and I loaded my Nero back on all 4 XP machines..

Thanks again to all..
