VideoWave - Jerky Video With Transitions

ErinB

Question

I was attempting to create a VideoWave project. All was well, the video split nicely and smoothly, until I added transitions. Now, after each transition, the video stutters and takes about a second to recover (the audio is ok). I've created dozens of projects, but this is the first time I have encountered this. I took the advice given in some posts - I updated the system performance, updated DirectX, downloaded the latest update via Roxio (EMC 7.5) and attempted to update my video card driver - but one was not available. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem or know of a resolution?

Any help is appreciated.

THANKS!!!

Erin

Hi Erin,

Does this stuttering happen when previewing in Videowave or on the final burned DVD? The reason I ask is that my projects almost always experience that stutter after a transition when previewed, but play fine when finally burned to a DVD. I don't know what causes it, but I no longer worry about it since the final product works correctly.

Thank you for your replies. The issue occurs when previewing in VideoWave. I was afraid the problem would also be seen on the DVD, so I haven't attempted to burn it yet.

I ran Ad-aware and defragmented the hard drive, but it did not change the problem. It still happens in the original project I was working on and also appears in a new one.

While defragmenting, I realized that I have a measley 30GB available on my 141GB hard drive. Could that be a factor?

While that 30 GB is not a great deal of available space especially when working with video files, I think it should be adequate and is probably not the reason for the stuttering.

Rather than wasting a DVD disc to check the stuttering, just output your project to a MPEG file and then play that in Windows Media Player (or any other player you may have). If that file plays smooth, then you will know the problems exists only in the preview. As an alternative, you could also use a RW disc if you prefer.

Hope that helps.

List your system specs, similar to how I have mine listed in my signature.

Defrag your hard drive, and get rid of any malware/spyware that you have on your computer. Malware/spyware is not the same as a virus.

One thing you might try if this problem occurs in the future in VideoWave is to go to Tools\ Options\ File Control and delete the audio preview files. When you go to preview the production, the program will then rebuild the audio preview files.

If that doesn't help, then the problem is a playback issue as Merv suggested.
