BSOD error when burning

When I try to burn a DVD in MyDVD from videowave my computer immediately gives me the Blue screen of death with the following Stop error: 0x0000007E .... It referrences the Mcafee file "mfehidk.sys". I have found some information about that file causeing errors when you have a software called Daemon tools WHICH I DO NOT have on my computer. In my search for a solution I have checked for all updates and new drivers (video and dvd burner). I followed suggestions I found on the Mcafee forums.mcafeehelp.com sight that referred to this problem back in March 3, 2007 but these suggestions did not help. ( changing "VirusScan Real Time Scan" to "Program and Files Only" and Disabling SystemGaurd in McAfee Security Center. I believe this is a McAfee issue but since I keep getting it when i trying to burn from roxio I thought some here might have an answer. Please help me.

DAEMON Tools is an optical drive emulator. EMC 9 also includes such a tool in Disc Image Loader. Any chance you've run that and loaded an image into a virtual drive? If so, try disabling that and see if that helps. I only suggest that because of the similarity between the two applications (DAEMON Tools and Disc Image Loader). Personally, I run both applications but with a different Anti-Virus program.

 

Thanks for the response. I looked into the Disc Image Loader and it shows no virtual drives are enabled.

I have been trying to find where in McAfee you can disable a specific program but I have not found that yet. I keep looking though.

I don't know Macafee, but in most such security suites it is possible to exclude specified folders/programs from what is monitored. If you have that option, try excluding all Roxio files and folders.
