Creator 9 Deluxe Suite Fix anything?

bostondriver

Question

Hi,

I got a new Dell Dimension E521 that came with a few Roxio applications (which I'm about to remove.)

I already own Creator 9 Suite, and suffered from a few of the known problems (pinned in this forum) such as "CD-Key Issue", "DivX and EMC 9", clean install etc. Are any of these problems fixed with the Deluxe Suite version?

The new machine is for family use, and will be XP only. The current system with EMC9 is going 100% Unix. The thought of being out of town and having a DivX problem pop up, the mpeg enabled problem or any of the other fun from the last time I installed EMC9 on XP makes it worth the $49 to upgrade IF these problems have been fixed.

Does anyone know?

Thanks,

BD

EMC 9 Suite and EMC 9 Deluxe are basically the same with a couple of exceptions. Deluxe comes with some additional "goodies" - additional menu styles, SoundSoap (which reportedly does does not work on Vista), the capture device, etc. You are not able to update your current version, if it is 9.0, to the latest 9.1 version as there is not an update available. The current EMC 9 Suite is now 9.1 if you buy a copy. I just checked and the link for EMC 9 Deluxe does not have anything about being Vista certified (still showing Vista compatable only) so it appears to still be the older version. If you have problems with your current EMC 9 Suite you could, but might not, still have them with EMC 9 Deluxe as it also contains basically the same obsolete versions. If you purchased your copy before May (when the Vista certified or 9.1 version was released), you have the obsolete version. With all that said now, I installed 9.0 on a Vista machine and it has worked ok. I then upgraded to the Deluxe because I wanted to try the capture device. Again no problem (except no SoundSoap - no loss since I do not use it anyway). To see if you have the same problems you mentioned, you will just have to try it on the other machine to see as there is no reliable way to determine if it will work ok or not before installation. Due to your concerns, you might consider in this instance the rule of thumb for beta software, do not install on a "production" machine or a machine you rely on and do not want problems to occur on.
