Interesting article here (you may have to sign up to read it tho)

"Microsoft Office 2007, the new office suite that aims to replace older platforms, introduces numerous changes and new features. However, the very modifications that make Office 2007 attractive also complicate its use. From incompatible new file formats to a drastically changed user interface, many organizations will be better served remaining standardized on Office 2003."

I believe MS released some converters to get around the xml file format issues. Still, the Office 2007 menues have changed considerably. Perhaps an option to choose "classic menues" would ease the pain and learning would be a good thing if it were available.

Frankly, I liked MS Word for the MAC that came out 12 years ago. It was easy to use and the menues were simple. But, life moves on.... You can't stay on DOS forever or maybe some can.

Classic Menu of Office 2007 will allow you to use the old menu in place of the new ribbon menu in Office 2007.

youtube.com also has some tutorials for Office 2007 that are simple enough for those who can't get by. I admit, it is a total face change and one that's not easy to get use to.

I will have to take a look at that when I get home. Work will not let me open the page.

I can not stand the new menus. Takes too many clicks to get what I want. Old menu would take one click. now anywhere from 2-4. Definitely not production oriented software.

I've very fond memories of Word 3 - the whole heap came on all of TWO 360K 5 1/4" floppies (one for the program and the second for the thesaurus/spell-checker)

Remember WordStar? Typed my wife's thesis on that one. Didn't know what I was doing when I started it but knew it well by the time I finished it!
