Googling for that error produced some hits (all posted by the same guy on at least three different fora even)

"Hi everyone

I wonder if someone can help with a update question in vista home premium

every time I install an update my computer comes up with a

license change screen and directs my to validation which I have been through.

One of the updates which always fails with a 000064c code is MSXML 4. The

only way I can use my new machine is to cold boot safe mode then system

restore

When I turn my computer off normally it starts normally"

It would appear to be a Vista error rather than a Roxio one (but no-one seems to have answered any of them)

Thank you for the replies. The error was during the media experience install.

After several tries it has worked. I've been cleaning the registery and deleting files to get rid of the failed installations so maybe I was missing something there before. I also turned off all Norton protection and Windows defender service before doing a clean boot this time.

I normally would just use msconfig to disable all startup programs and all non Microsoft services to do a clean boot before installing but that is when I was having problems. I thought using msconfig would have turned off Norton protections. I read somewhere that windows defender service caused some problems but turning off any Microsoft services is not suggested for a clean boot that I can remember. One of the registery entries I deleted that contained 'roxio' as a value started with {064C..... but I thought that would be a coincidence. If someone has the same problem maybe this information will help but I really don't know what fixed this error.
