VideoWave to DVD

MylesO2L

Question

Completed new project in EMC9 VideoWave. With EMC8, to avoid any conflicts you would output your production as an .iso file. Then open (I think DVD Builder) and import the iso file, create a main menu, and burn the DVD. This worked flawlessly. In EMC9 (VideoWave) I do not see .iso as a choice in the video type dropdown box. Am I missing something? Should I be using a different option (MPEG)?

FYI: VW production is in 16:9 format and all content is 1280 x 720. Video will be viewed in HD (1280 x 720).

I did output the production in HD MPEG2 and, using Disc Copier, created a movie compilation with just the MPG file created from VW and burned to DVD. The burn appears to have worked, however, upon playback I have audio drop outs, frames freezing and finally a full freeze.

ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Thanks for the replies. I may have misspoke regarding "High Def". I was trying to create a project in which the panels in the VW project were at the same pixel resolution as the viewing television (1280 x 720).
Not really sure if I understand why you are creating the project at that resolution if the video DVD will not be at that resolution. The resolution of a video DVD is 720X480. It simply can not be higher. Even if you show it on your HD 16:9 TV that has 1280X720, what you are viewing is still 720X480 (non-square pixels for widescreen).

Not sure what is happening with the second DVD , but sounds like it was created as full screen instead of widescreen.

It is MyDVD, where you burn to an .ISO file, not VideoWave.

So, do not render the project in VideoWave but open My DVD and bring in DMSM file as movie, adjust menu, etc then choose burn project. Then unselect Burn to Disc and choose burn to file? I am trying to create the best possible DVD with the VideoWave project that is completed. All photos/videos have been brought in to VW at 1280 x 720 with widescreen format. High quality audio added as well. Finished disc will be viewed on a widescreen TV at HD (1280 x 720). Do you have any additional suggestions. I noticed that when you go to burn the disc in My DVD and open settings, the HD 1280 x 720 does not appear to be an option, just 720 x 480.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Yes, to your first question. Then burn the .iso file, to a DVD, with Disc Copier. If the production is over 2 hours long, burn to a Folder set instead of an .iso file. The .iso file cuts off anything over a little less than 2 hours.

Also, you can burn widescreen, but I don't think the software supports HD. Maybe someone else will drop in and let us know for sure.

There is no such thing as hidef video DVD. There is only standard definition. However there are other options. If you have a DVD player that can playback HD WMV or DivX HD, you can burn those to data DVDs.

There is also a such thing as Blueray video on regular DVD, but MyDVD/Videowave doesn't support that.

Thanks for the replies. I may have misspoke regarding "High Def". I was trying to create a project in which the panels in the VW project were at the same pixel resolution as the viewing television (1280 x 720). All of the images were done in PhotoShop using their Pixel Aspect Ratio setting of D1/DV NTSC Widescreen (1.2) with a size of 1280 x 720.

I appreciate the help on the .iso issue. I did just complete a burn by bringing the DMSM created by VW into My DVD (as added movie). Burned to disc was completed without any errors and the disc appears to be playing in both computer and set top player. However, I did notice that when I played the 1st DVD (using the method of VW encode to MPEG2/Disc Copier) and viewed on standard def TV 4:3, even though the video kept stopping or hanging, the image was good and showed with the bars top and bottom, as you would expect. The 2nd DVD from above method shows the image full screen with approx. half cut off. Any idea?
