How do I update and where is Back Up My PC?

Graeme82

Question

When I first set up my computer I set it up blah, blah... then I registered my Roxio that came packaged with the PC and I was off. I was met at the welcome screen with 4 or 3 tabs (can't remember exactly how many) and I clicked "Actualizar" (My computer is in Spanish) and I was given the option of downloading Back Up My PC and the codecs. I downloaded and installed Back Up My PC. My computer messed up and I had to format and reinstall everything. After reinstallation I registered my Roxio again but my welcome screen was different and contains no tabs and no options for "Actualizar" - I tell a lie, it does have a thing that says actualizar but when I click it all that happens is that a Roxio web page is opened and I have the option of buying the full Creator 9. The home page now is more like a list that contains...

Introduccion - followed by information in writing.

Consejos y tecnicos - followed by more information in writing.

Compatibilidad y actualizar - which has writing and a link that takes me to the page I was telling you.

Where has the original welcome screen gone and where is the option of the Codecs and the Back Up My PC program?

Thanks for any help with this.

Graeme

If you got Roxio software with your PC, it is probably an OEM version, not the full EMC 9 suite, but a cut down SE version. Both Dell and HP have such versions. Don't know about other PC manufacturers. I think that is why it is giving you the option to upgrade to the full package. Could you check and post exactly the version of the software you have.

It's with Compaq / HP and is Basic Creator 9 HP edition. If that is the reason for the change, why was it different the first time it was installed and registered? My welcome screen was completely different and I had the "Due to having Media Creator 9 you can download and install" option of BackUp My PC and the Codecs, now it's got nothing like that.

Don't know. One guess would be that if it was originally factory installed, what they installed was slightly different fromn what is on the installation CD that you presumably used when you reinstalled everything. You could ask HP, I think they are responsible for suppoert for OEM software.

Another possibility, though this is pure speculation as well, is that it was a limited time offer that has now vanished, so you are reverting to the welcome screen corresponding to the OEM version you have.

HP provides ALL support for their OEM software.
