Video Size 720x480 versus 640x480

hickory

Question

I imported a home movie as an mpg file with Media Import. In Media Import, I created a New template with the Video size 720x480 and imported the movie. Then, I imported the movie with a Video size of 640x480 thinking this would make a difference for 4:3 format. However, when I view the movies with VideoWave or Windows Media Player, I don't see any difference.

What is the difference, if any?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-2 Look under Applications Allowed Resolutions for mpg2 format.

Why are you trying to change the resolutions? What problems are you seeing with 4 by 3?

I'm not trying to change resolution. I'm just asking what is the difference. The default for best quailty seems to be 720x480. But I wonder what 640x480 is, since it's ratio is 4:3.
