athanasian_creed
Hello, The manual for BackOnTrack Home says it runs only on Windows XP. I haven't found anything on the System OK or Roxio or Sonic sites which suggests that anyone will write a Vista version. Regards, Brendon Thanks for the reply Brendon! That's a real bummer - why use BOT on XP when you can use GoBack! Ray

I'm looking for system restore programs that work well under Vista - the ones tried have been found wanting and BOT looks promising. TIA, Ray Ray, Hi. BOT does run on Vista but some installation issues have been reported with both XP and Vista. this is what I learned the hard way: I was finally able to get B.O.T. installed but it involved backing up and saving all my data and installation files, etc. then bringing my computer back to it's original factory state and re-installing all data and programs. Roxsio did respond to my ticket with the only advice to turn the virus scanner off which I had already done. It was an incredible hassle as you can imagine, but I will say the program does work as advertised when finally installed. Roxsio needs to learn customer service and fast. They need operators (live) and toll free numbers, not pay for minute tech support. I couldn't believe that!! Good luck with your installation.. But remember to install Back on Track BEFORE your other applications and AFTER you allow windows to update immediately after restoring your computer. Get virus scanner and firewall install programs ready on your desktop immediately after B.O.T install and then run them.
stm
I have been using BOT 3 for about a month with windows Vista Ultimate and it works perfectly...it disables the check disk in windows (which Roxio is working on) but big deal...most use a 3rd party check disk or disk repair anyway. MikeRadio
Be careful with BOT on Vista.... The BOT that comed with EMC 10 works fine.. although it is pretty crippled and only really does file backup similar to the old Easy Archive... When you go to click upgrade it says a solution is coming in mid Septeber and says SEE YOU IN MID SEPTEMBER! Well its October!! Now i accidentllay put BOT 3 (the upgrade) which adds Image type functionality on XP on my vista machine.. The machine would Blue Screen during boot! It was a nightmare!! Luckiily windows restore got me going again. I hope there is a working BOT soon... I used to use Goback and the folks at Symantec said an updated GoBack is coming with Systemworks 2008... still not available though.... I loveds GoBack but definitely would be willing to give BOT a try if it becomes available for Vista!

I have Creator 10 with BOT V4. Using BOT I backed up four DVDs worth of My Docs stuff from an XP to a Vista machine. When I attempted to restore them to Vista the first time, it got halfway through and then locked up. Six tries later it still won't work!

I would steer clear - there has been a lot of problems with BOT3 - the upgrade is not what you expect. Get yourself a seperate backup programme or wait until Roxio have got their act sorted out. See other threads for more details on the issues.
