Photo Quality

Spartanhoops1

Question

I'm new to this forum.

I have been using Roxio 6 for quite a while. I thought it was time to upgrade so I purchase EMC 9. I crated my first slideshow and was VERY disappointed with the qualities of the photos when I burned to a DVD. 6 retained the quality of the original photos, while lost a lot of quality. Is there anything I can do to get better quality for photos with EMC 9?

Thanks!

I skipped Roxio V6, but I remember that V5 had a way to create slideshows that used the actual JPG files. It also used the native ability of a DVD player to show images.

By default, V9 creates a VIDEO DVD for best compatibility which should play on any DVD player. This will indeed lower the resolution of most photo files (720X480). However, there is an option similar to V5, but you can not have any transitions or special effects.

In MyDVD, click 'Add SlideShow'. This is the slides show wizard. When you get to the step to select Transition Style, go to the bottom of the list and select 'Video CD High Resolution'. NOTE: This is for CD ONLY.

Thanks for the quick response. So, what' your saying it if I want high resolution slideshows but no music or transitions, I have to use "Video CD..." If I want the transitions and music I have to except the fact that the photos will be lower resolution.

It was not what I was hoping to hear. I'm very disappointed. With V6 I can created slideshows that display the photos in full resolution with music and transitions.

Hmm I don't have those HD options. Can you think of any reason why not (e.g. are they only available if some HD hardware is installed, or does it require some codecs to be installed that I might be missing)?

I don't have them either. Perhaps you have to start with HD video ? I don't have any so I can't try it.

I don't have any HD equipment, but with my widescreen video and/or widescreen photos in a production, I get the same options as Gary.

With a 4:3 production, I get the same options as Jean.

Which is what Gary noted in his post. The project "MUST BE 16:9". I'm thinking the ones who aren't seeing the options missed that part.

You can have music. Just no transitions or effects with the Video CD Hi Rez option.

If you have a hidef TV and a DVD player that supports HD WMV or Divx HD, that is also another option. Videowave does support high definition output.

OK... I've been working with Videowave. I have a production, but how do I save it in HD? I'm sorry. I am new at this!

First of all, the production MUST BE 16:9 for high definition outputs to even show up.

Open the Videowave production

If you are finished editing, click on the OUTPUT TO FILE icon.

Looks like a reel of film is to the left of the Burn icon.

Choose one of the HD outputs, select folder and filename. Click 'Create Video File'

See arrows: AVC is MPEG 4. There are also two HD WMV options (720p and 1080p), but I couldn't get them in the screenshot.
