Deluxe vs. EMC9

videochick

Question

Just purchased a new laptop and need to upgrade my editing software. I am currently using EMC 7, but will be running Vista with new Laptop....so time to upgrade EMC.

I am using it to do a lot of video productions for friends and family. Photo editing as well.

Can someone please tell me in easy terms, if I should buy the Deluxe or just the EMC 9. and Why?

Also, how well does this softyware work on Vista...and am a little bit worried.

Thanks!!!!!

The real difference between EMC 9 and the De Luxe is the Dazzle interface which can take output from a VCR and feed it to the computer. Apart from that, there are some bundled extras with DL that aren't with 9

Work with Vista - most people have had no problem, but some do (and shout it from the rooftops that they did), but on the whole, it does work with Vista (the ones who don't have problems aren't very likely to come here)

I've had problems with this software from first purchasing and didn't come here banging on the rooftop.

I came here after many months hoping to find out the problems had been sorted? They haven't, it still doesn't work properly with both XP and especially Vista where it sometimes works okay, but mostly crashes at some important point. That's if it doesn't conflict with your anti virus, graphics card, video capture etc, etc.

You could try uninstalling everything, re-installing windows then install emc9. That might work? :unsure:

The concept of this programme is exceptional, and the magazine reviews it got at the beginning of the year seemed to suggest this was a perfect answer to my media creation needs? It's not. It's been lying in it's box unused for months, and when I came back here they are still promising a fix.

" We really appreciate the incredible support that our user community has provided in helping us perform the "real world" testing that is critical to insuring reliable software. "

I'm not here to dis this programme but beware, you might get a tad frustrated. I am!

Not happy....... :angry::angry::angry:

What did you get in that laptop? V9 requires a lot more from the computer than did V7. I would suggest that you try the 30 day trial of the software before you buy. You can download the trial from the Trial forum; first post. Post there if you run into trouble. The trial doesn not have all the bells and whistles of V9 or V9 deluxe and does not include Drag2Disc but you can see if your computer can handle it.

The incremental cost of the Deluxe version is less than the cost of adding a capture device. I hope the EMC10 deluxe will include the Vista drivers for it as even the 9.1 doesnt.

Despite the disappointments I had, EMC9 still works better than Nero and so far haven't seen anything better. All these Video editing applications seem to have some quirks, even Adobe Premiere...
