Hi Fett,

Thanks for the log.

Conversion worked fine on my system, and comparing the logs shows where the crunch came in your system.

Please look at the attached log screenshot. The right half is yours, the left is mine, and the significant differences are outlined in red.

As you'll see, at the 9.00.42 point your system went to finish loading those filters. There was a 9 second wait while it tried to complete the job and then at 51 seconds it gave up and declared a connection error. Mine just carried on and re-coded the clip.

Everything from there was pretty much the same except mine deleted the object after writing the file. I gather that yours either writes a zero length file or else a file full of zeroes, because it hasn't created an object to write and then delete at the end.

This seems to be some sort of transport problem between filters, but that's about the limit of my knowledge on this subject. (I pushed the envelope to get it out this far)

I have some thoughts on this matter

1) Since you also have a ULEAD application installed, that might be interfering with copier 9's filters and causing this problem.

2) If that is the problem, you may need to uninstall BOTH the ULEAD application and Copy & Convert, tidy up, and then reinstall C&C to set things right. No guarantees, this is just my best suggestion.

3) Since this is a problem with Copier9, I could move this topic into an EMC9 forum for you. There is a much larger user base for EMC9, and the people up there may have already dealt with this sort of problem.

4) If the users up there can't help you (it is quite a technical issue) you might need to go to Sonic/Roxio Technical support. Please feel free to download this topic and the screenshot to show them, or point Tech Support at the forum.

Would you like me to move the topic upstairs? (I'll leave a redirect here for a few days so you can go where it went)

Regards,

Brendon

Hi Fett,

Please describe what you're doing (step-by-step) when you try to convert AVIs to MPEG2. Can you play or preview these AVIs on your machine? (what with?)

Please tell us what other video files you've tried to convert, and how you tried to convert them.

Please tell us what errors you get with each of these when you have no success.

I can play the AVI's on my machine, I can also convert them to MPEG4. Additionally, I can convert the AVIs to MPEG2 with Ulead (but it takes forever and I have a lot that I want to run in batch). I receive no errors, it runs the conversion (no previews) and says conversion complete but leaves an empty MPEG2 file.
