Copy DVD quality

ILUVAWNINGS

Question

I'm copying DVDs of a Videwave production I created. I noticed under the Options button a selection to

"Stage to hard drive for better quality (slower)".

Does this mean better quality video or better quality in longevity of discs, or some other kind of "better quality"? I'm trying to make the best quality copies of this DVD that I can with this software. Copying the DVD seems to be the easiest and the fastest way, but is it the best for quality?

Yes, I'm talking about Disc Copier, and I'm not looking for better quality than the original DVD. I just don't want less quality.

Right now, I'm having a problem with copies I'm making. On two DVD players, the image freezes, as if on pause at the same point. The project plays fine on my computer. I'm wondering if there is an error in the way the DVD is being burned.

this is the same identical problem that i am having please help

It is a media problem. You MUST use quality media when burning. As many people here know, I am a huge Verbatim fan. Here are the ones I get at Newegg.com. People here also like Taiyo Yuden. Cheap media will cause these problems!! And in my opinion, Verbatims are very inexpensive, yet good!!

Are you talking about using Disc Copier? If you are copying from a DVD, you aren't going to get any better quality than what is on that DVD, no matter how you copy it.

You might try burning at a slower speed which seems to help some. Also, try a different brand of media and see if that helps. Finally, keeping your hard drive defragged is helpful for many reasons.

Open DVDInfo Pro, found in EMC 9 tools. From the icons at top use the 'test your media for CRC read errors' . 'PI, PO and Jitter media tests' , 'and show information on loaded media'. The last one tells the maker of the media because the brand name Sony and others don't make media. Look for media ID or (MID) or Media code/Manufacturer ID.
