HELP PLZ.. EM9 MYDVD ISSUE

jaine

Question

Hello

Please help me before I throw my lap top out of the window :(

I recently installed Roxio easy media creator 9 onto my Dell latitude D820 which is on Windows XP Home service pack 2.

Now I can create say a media file with photos and music or a video with my dvd, then I go to burn the dvd disk (click on burn button) it comes up with the screen that records yours progress but that stays at 0% and doesnt move! (even left it for an hour)

I then cancel the procedure, It doesnt do anything so I have to 'end program' the disc will not eject so I have to reboot my laptop to even get my dvd out.

I have used Roxio before on an old laptop (an older version of Roxio) so I know how to use the program.

I bought my Dell 9 months ago and have just been using drag to disk for basic copying of files etc but I wanted to transfer and make some vids so I purchased EMC9 from Sonic Solutions and had the backup disks posted.

I have checked firmware etc and it all seems to be up to date.

The driver for cd/dvd is a SONY DVD + RW DW-Q58A

If there is anyone that can help me please do!

ps

I'm not fantastically computer literate and I'm blonde so speak slowly! :P

0% progress of the encoding can be resolved by updating the drivers for your video adapter. Go to the manufacturer site for your video card, download and install the latest drivers following their instructions. If you already have the latest driver installed, uninstall it, reboot, then re-install it.

The best thing to do would be to contact Dell. Check their site for updated drivers. Call them if you're not sure or go to their forums and ask for help. Dell has an online system that allows you to put in your service tag # and they can also check your machine to see what, if anything needs updating.

As Paul suggests, go to Dell's site first and check for a driver there. Being an Nvidia chipset, once you get the driver downloaded to install, you'll need to uninstall the current one, reboot so the generic Windows vga driver is being used, then install the new one.

If you don't have much success at Dell's site, you could go directly to Nvidia's site for the Quadro line. Then select the Operating system under the NVS section. You noted you are using XP Pro, so I believe it should be this one you'll end up at.
