PS3 firmware 1.9 question?

Harhash

Question

First Question: I wonder if the new firmware release for the PS3 version 1.9 still support BDMV playback and can play BDR/RE authored by DVDit Pro HD? did anyone try it?

Second Question: Is it possible to update firmware for european PS3 by firmware downloaded from USA?

Third question: Is it possible to bring PS3 firmware back to a previous version so after installing 1.9 go back to 1.82 for example.... THANKS

Folks,

For those of you that do have the software and hardware being discussed, please continue to do so. That is one of the reasons for this user discussion board being here. Not only are you helping each other work thru the challenges of this new and ever changing technology, but you are providing valuable and informative information to those who are following the progress of it and may be interested in getting into it at some point.

I dont know who you are, but you must have blown in here in a mist of fog overnight like a warewolf.

This topic has everything to do with DVDit PRO HD, but you would know that if you had the software.

It's spelled werewolf, and it's appearant you don't know much about them.

Let's go over each question and see where Roxio would be able to provide information. Question #1 asks if the PS3 will support BDMV after the firmware release. That is a question for Sony to answer. Nothing new has changed in DVDit and Roxio does not support PS3 firmware. Question #2 asks if European PS3's can use firmware downloaded from America. This is a question for Sony to answer. Roxio does not provide support for PS3 firmware. Question #3 asks if it is possible to rollback updated firmware on a PS3. This is a question for Sony to answer. Roxio does not provide support for PS3 firmware. The PS3 is nothing more than a DVD player to Roxio. Therefore, all questions regarding support should be directed to the company of the DVD player/recorder, in this instance Sony.

All of the questions ask about the firmware update for PS3. Contact Sony for your support questions. Roxio does not provide support for the PS3. The appropriate question from the OP should have been "Is anyone using DVDit Pro HD with with the PS3 firmware update 1.9?"

My PS3 is at firmware version 1.9 and it does play the BD-R and BD-RE disc created by DVDitPro HD.

OK I'm very glad to hear that... that's all I wanted to know in fact from starting this thread.... sorry for the unrelated question concerning PS3 update but my question is because I happened to have firmware 1.82 downloaded from USA and now I can only get 1.9 from UK site so if i was to update with 1.82 to avoid any problems arising from 1.9 then I'm stuck with the USA version which I already have on my computer...

Sorry again... but it's nice to know that 1.9 still supports DVDit Pro HD's authored blu ray discs.... have a nice time you all

No need for apologies. My directed post was directed towards others, not you. You did have a valid question in there. Good luck with the PS3!

Also one more thing to mention from following this message board and others... I knew from avs forums that it is not possible to roll back firmwares on the ps3 so if you go with the most recent then you are stuck with it... and from this forum I learned that sony has some plans to abandon BDMV playback at some stage so everyone should be very careful before updating PS3 firmware from now on especially us using DVDit Pro HD to author Blu ray discs... I believe that before updating everyone should make sure that the firmware allows BDMV playback... GoodLuck everybody

I've burn a Blu Ray Disk (BD-RE Version 2.1 & BDR Version 1.1 both Verbatim) with DVDit HD pro 6.3 from a HDV Video 1080i with an small Menue.

The Sony Playstation 3 doesn't play this Disk. He identify it as BDMV and then an error occures.

This i'f checked with the Firmware 1.93 and the newest from today 2.01.

When i burn this Disk with ULEAD Filmbrennerei 6 plus, it works and was identifiy as an BDAV without Menues.

DVDit HD pro 6.3 occure often an Error R6025 at the Time to write the Content to Disk.

Many Users in other Formus recommands to deinstall the Windows Media Player 11 and get back to MP 10.

I've do this.

Now, at this time i'll write a Blu Ray Disk Volume from my Projekt to Harddisk.

Unfortunally, the write action aborts with an error. The same procedure again, without restart DVDit, the Volume is now on Harddisk an no more errors came from DVDit.

Now i will delete the AACS-Folder to enhance the compatibilty of my Blu Ray Disk (as im many forums recommands) , but it isn't in this Volume inside.

Has anyone create succesfully a Blu Ray Disk with Roxio DVDit Pro HD 6.3, that plays on PS3?

regards from Hamburg (Germany)

I have made about 10 blu ray disk that play on my Sony PS3 (firmware 1.93?)

I used 25 Gb Sony BD-RE disc (Ver.2.1 1/2X) to make the test disc and have burn to both 25gb and 50gb BD-R discs.

One habit I have gotten into, is to have DVDit burn to volume first. Then use CyberLink

PowerDVD Ultra (Ver 7.3) to verify everything is working (pointed CyberLink at the volume on the

harddrive). the last step is to use DVDit to "Burn Disk" using the "Volume"

What's the update - are current firmware versions on the PS3 playing our BDMV discs (when using the Roxio software)? If not - what is the threshold firmware version?

I just updated to 1.9 and everything still works as far as I can tell.

1) I have not heard yes or no on this one, I just got my replacement PS3 so I will try shortly. But I'm guessing it's still supported.

2) I don't think so

3) Probably is a way to do it but probably not for the weak hearted. And you may brick your PS3!

My PS3 updated to firmware version 1.93 and it does play the BD-RE disc (TDK BD-RE 25GB in orange packing) created by DVDitPro HD.

But i just check it at my 24inch DELL(used the HDMI to DVI cable), the informations said my output from PS3 was 720 x 480, not my originally 1920 x 1080, i have make sure the volume in HD was in 1920 x 1080, anyone know this is the fact or something i have done wrongly?

P.S. I've checked with my downloaded game trailer(in MPEG4 AVC), the monitor informations just told 1920 x 1080 without any problem.

Guys, this forum is for Roxio applications. Move your PS3 questions to the Sony forum. Don't get mad when this post is locked up.
