Thank you for your time and interest, registration issue now resolved, thanks to Canon.

Roxio, suggested I conected directly to the internet. why, as everything else works without me playing around with my conections.

Happy to hear you got it worked out. :)

Are you saying what worked eventually was how you were connected? It almost sounds like you use a router to connect thru, in which case it could have been some sort of security or firewall setting in the router blocking it. In which case bypassing the router would eliminate that roadblock.

You may have a firewall or some internet security software (like Norton's) blocking it. Try turning off or disabling those when it's trying to connect.

Or you could just go the route of manually registering it. Go to the My Account login and once logged in there is a link part way down the page to register a new product.

firewall and security had been disabled, Norton is not used on any of our computers, I'll try the manual route

Tried the manual route, MY DVD is version 6.1.6, not mentioned on the drop down list.

Well it appears you can only register (manually at least) retail purchased products of MyDVD post v6. Is there some reason you feel you needed to register it?

Hmm, that being the case then, since it's an OEM version supplied by Canon, I would try contacting them to resolve it. You could try Roxio/Sonics Customer Service, but I think they're likely to direct you to Canon.

Tried the Canon site trouble shooting and they now tell me to contact Sonic.

No, Canon sent me an .exe file which resolved the problem.

Roxio where suggesting I simply connect only to the internet, change the setup I have which works for everything else I do on line, that's what there words suggest to me.

Can you tell me exactly what you did to get help or the exe file. I am having the exact same problem. I tried disabling my firewall and hooked up my internet directly to my dsl line and that didn't work. I tried registering the software with the serial number on the CD online at Roxio and it replies invalid key. But its not an invalid key, it came with the CD-ROM. So I am really frustrated.

How did you get Canon to send you this exe file???? I would really appreciate any help or details you can give me.

Thank you

Then you could try the Roxio contact info here then. Sonic has a main site too, but it pretty much just leads to the Roxio support site now for tech support.
