smonteijr
This is where Roxio and the Roxio Marketing team needs to step up. Even though Nero 8 is being released 3 weeks ahead of EMC10, neither company has put forth any information on their new products. Roxio could beat Nero to the punch and draw back some of its users with a campaign showing EMC10's muscles. I'd also like to see EMC10 released as a beta or demo. I played a beta version of a new RTS game that is due to hit the shelves in September. We were given a place to post comments and any bugs found. It is available as a preorder and has already gone gold without the demo release yet.
ggrussell
...then installing 9.1 rev c would have solved some problems and quited some of the critics.Your making a HUGE assumption. Has been my experience that a patch does NOT always fix everything. Doesn't matter what Roxio does, there will always be users that will complain. The Highlander
EMC 9.1 rev c was released to retail so why wasn't it made availble to those who bought 9.0? there is no point going off over this patch or EMC10 release, we just need to sit and wait untill they show, thats it.... there is no point venting over this, Its just software, its not like you are going to die over it?? come on ppl

That's actually disheartening news. It just raises a lot of questions in my mind. Was EMC9 Suite so flawed that they had to release a new product? What will 10 have that 9 didn't? If 10 is better than 9, why even worry about the patch for 9 anymore? There were a lot of people who bought EMC9 Suite for $99, and never got it to work, and now Roxio releases 10? Will the owners of 9 get a free upgrade to 10, or will they be expected to pay full price? I could go on and I'm sure many others out there will have questions too. Nero is being released almost 3 weeks ahead of EMC10. That's not good news for Roxio. If Nero turns out to be a great program, Roxio could be in some serious trouble. Stas
Was EMC9 Suite so flawed that they had to release a new product? I think, not really. They just have to release a new version each year, in September. There will be Roxio 11 in September 2008 if Roxio is doing well at that time. The quality of new version, how different it is from previous one and what happens to users of previous versions are all different questions... Martin Dekker
Your English is great and I always look forward to your posts! In fact, we haven't heard from you for some time now… Tnx . Yep, had enough of the Roxio attitude during some of the discussions in the early EMC9 days (which is why I know for sure the "update-to-be-released-soon" has been promised from day 1), but I keep coming back as I love the discussions here Less than what it costs to keep the BS posted here. LOL BTW knowing myself... I end up buying both EMC10 and N***8 anyway, 9.1 patch or not. I just can't resist, especially considering the upgrade prices they usually charge. AlisonRoberts
So you mean to tell me even though I have purchased EM9 earlier this year, never got it to work on Vista even though it was promised and instead of being given a refund I have to wait for a update that is comming soon... yet I am able to preorder a new version 10 which is also claiming to 'work with Vista'????? When the features of 10 are announced, it might be worthwhile to consider the following that is applicable to any new software before buying the new version: 1) All new software will have some bugs is a given, it will work ok for some but there will be some users that will have problems due to system configurations, conflicts with other programs, etc. 2) Evaluate the new features and see if you need any immediately 3) If you need features immediately, realize you might have a product that mightnot perform due to the bugs and that you might have to just wait until a patch is available without complaining. 4) If features are not needed immediately, then wait until the first updated version (10.1?) with bug fixes is available for purchase or a patch is available to fix the bugs. 5) If you can wait, watch the forums to see what type of problems are present in the first release and make an informed decision about about purchasing based on 1) the type of problems, 2) the severity of the problems, and 3) the response time in "fixes" being provided, i.e. are fixes even available? Fairly much the way it works when dealing with a publicly traded company - except MS which does whatever it wants regardless of the stock market. Larry
Will the owners of 9 get a free upgrade to 10, or will they be expected to pay full price? What do you think? I wouldn't expect to see a free upgrade to a new version, why should they, others don't. I would expect to see some type of discounted pricing for previous version owners tho. They've always done it in the past, so don't see why they wouldn't this time.

Saw similar posts when EMC 8 went to 9 (claiming that needed to be free as well). Besides that, I expect them to keep the magic 9.1 patch on the shelf until a few weeks after the EMC 10 launch, just like a lot of others did (Pinnacle, Ulead, etc.) to make some extra revenue from those who no longer can wait. Martin Dekker
Oh come on! Next thing you will be telling us it was Roxio on the grassy knoll in Dallas or at Roswell! If the update was actually ready, it would have been released! My bad if my English is not perfect if it would make my point more clear please read "updated version" instead of "update". It's there... on the shelf... in their webshop... if you would like to pay a second time. Edit: sorry, forgot: ... for months...
Tom at Roxio
Hi all, It shouldn't be surprising to hear that we have great new products in our pipeline. We are still committed to providing the Easy Media Creator 9.0 to 9.1 update to our current customers. I wish I could provide the exact date that this will be available... but we won't know the date until we are there. We are in the final phases of testing and it should be a matter of days away... not weeks. Thanks Tom

Hey, some days you spank the monkey...and some days the monkey spanks you... (that's a metaphor for some days are good, and some days are bad.) It just depends on how good Nero 8 is, then you may not be worrying about EMC 9 or
