MiKe2520,

In your case, can you tell us where you got your version from? Is it a purchased "red box" one?

In looking at posts in other areas, the ac3 ‘problem' seems to be with Sony camcorders...

If you Finalize your discs, the problem goes away.

If you process the files with the software that Sony includes, the ‘problem' goes away.

I don't have a Sony so I cannot play with this but re-read your camera manual and see what you can come up with.

I am not using a Sony camcorder, and when i try to finalize a dvd-r it will not except it. I am using the sony Dvd-R and i am also using another brand called Computer Essentials DVD-R. Please Advise on what i should do to be able to get my dvd-r to finalize?

The OP is using a Sony. That is the problem when you graft onto an existing thread but don't really have the same problem, equipment, etc...

You have to Finalize in the camcorder, not your PC. You also need to throughly read your camcorder manual and perhaps even contact them about this.

None of the gurus here have even seen the Red Box version, let alone run it, so we have NO first hand experience with it. Few have a camcorder with a disc. Having seen all the problem posts, I bought a new one last month and I can assure you it was tape!

In any case, poke around as I suggested and keep us informed.

Ok guys apprently i'm getting the impression that you all don't seem to know how to solve my problem. i am very dissapointed with this product and the fact that the support team is not helping me one bit. The Easy CD & DVD CREATOR BURNING PROGRAM VERSION 9 IN THE RED BOX that i have, cannot read AC3 Audio files. I also CANNOT FINALIZE my DVD-Rs. if anyone in the support team can help me out please reply to me ASAP. I AM NOT AND I REPEAT AM NOT USING ANY CAM CORDERS AT ALL, SO PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO ME ABOUT ANY SONY CAM CORDERS OR ANY CAM CORDERS AT ALL. I AM BURNING AUDIO FILES FROM MY COMPUTER.

THANK YOU

First off, just so it's clear, there is no Roxio/Sonic "support team" here. This is a user forum where users help each other out and share ideas. The only Roxio/Sonic people you may see on here are the moderators, and they have Roxio Logos by their user names. The rest of us are all just users like you.

If you want to contact their customer service, thats found here.

It could be that the "Red Box" version of 9 doesn't support AC3 files. I know the v 6 one doesn't.

You could try downloading the AC3 open source filter ( http://ac3filter.net/ ) to see if that helps.

You could try doing a Repair thru Add/Remove programs.

Or you could try following the clean install article to reinstall it.

Other than that, I don't know what else to suggest myself.

Thanks
