What's the Difference Between?

John P. Irish

Question

I had to restore my Dell computer to factory settings, but when I did my Roxio software did not reinstall properly, so I was going to do it manually from the CD's. I have two of them, what is the difference between: "Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 Premier" AND "Roxio Creator & My DVD 9.0 DE"? Do I need to install both, does it matter which one gets installed first?

Thanks for any help with this . . . :)

The "DE" one would be one that Dell supplies with their systems (DE = Dell Edition). Not sure on the "Premiere" one, but it could be one that you purchased maybe? I don;t think you want to be installing both of them. Do they have on the labels any notation like "Content disc" or "Program Disc"?

You could try the Clean Install instructions to get the currently installed stuff off, then try installing the one you want to try.

Both say, program disk, that's what concerned me - I went ahead an installed the Premier CD, that seems to be what was on the computer before. I just did not know if the DE was some kind of extra CD or something?
That would indicate you do have two different versions then. Not sure where you got the "Premiere" one from, but the DE one should be the one that came from Dell with your system as it's their modified version of the program. As long as you've got it installed and it's working, that's the main thing.
