I'm trying to make a sound clip play in a shorter space of time. This is usually done in other programs by adjusting the pitch. Roxio 8 doesn't do that. Pitch just makes it sound more helium-ish. But I can't find any way to up the tempo like I want to. Is that even possible with this program? If so, how? I can't find it.

Sound Editor is not a full service audio editor. As you found out, there is a limit on how much you can do with an audio file. The program is usually enough for video work and for making audio cd and DVD.

Try downloading the free trial of "GoldWave" shareware.(liberal trial benefits - no spyware). The program allows you to speed up or slow down the audio file without changing the pitch (actually quite amazing).
