OPK - two querstions

Did you 'upgrade' XP to Vista or do a fresh install

Did you run Norton One Button Checkup (or the McAfee equivalent)?

Sigh........Vista won't let me intall my new version of Norton System Works, even though it says it will work with Vista......

I upgraded XP to Vista

That could be the problem - when you install a new OS it's always better to do it afresh as that way you don't get a load of gunk brought in

The fact that Norton won't install either makes me think that there are OS problems there and you may be better just getting your data out to one side, reformatting and doing a clean install

btw - don't run Norton One Button Checkup after(it tends to give that 'trial version' message you get)

Uhhh, The Trial version message is realted to Roxio not Norton....

And I am sick to death of the answer to everything......being spending hours backing up........and days reinstalling everything.............

Uhhh, you need to go a little deeper in the forums to find the numerous post about Norton and Mcafee causing that exact problem.

It may not be the cause in your case, but if you didn't do a clean install of Vista, then you still have gremlins wandering around, from your XP, and that could be your problem.
