Playback using menu starts at wrong chapter

mdm

Question

I've used Easy Media Creator 9 to create a production which contains 4 movies. Each of the movies contains a number of chapters.

Everything previews correctly. However, when I burned the production to a DVD and use the menu to select movie 2, the playback starts at chapter 2. When I select movie 3, the playback starts at chapter 3. When I select movie 4, the playback starts at chapter 4. Menu 1 correctly starts playback at chapter 1. I've tried playback on multiple DVD players and the behavior is the same.

In each of these movies, all of the chapters can be viewed from the DVD, the problem is that the movie doesn't start at chapter 1. For example, in movie 3 I can get to chapter 1 and 2 even though it starts at chapter 3.

I've verified that each of the menus is configured to start at chapter 1.

I'm using a new Dell E520 system running Vista.

Has anyone else seen this problem and is there a known workaround?

Thanks.

I have the same general problem, and it is driving me CRAZY!

In my case, I am using XP, so it doesn't fit into this forum, but there is no reference to this in the other forums, so I thought I would start here.

I created Photo Slideshows in VW9, which were saved as DMSM files. After closing VW, I opened MyDVD9 and created a new DVD, adding the DMSM files. Within MyDVD9, I added Chapters every 30 seconds.

When I preview, it all goes to plan.

When I burn (to a ISO disc image on my hard drive), all movies start at Chapter 3. I can go back to chapters 1 and 2 manually, but it is not an acceptable workaround.

The same happens with the "Play All" button I placed in the Project: all movies start on Chapter 3.

I finally managed to solve the general problem by creating a completely new Project, adding the slideshow files and not placing any chapters in them. Now the movies start correctly, but I don't have the benefit of chapters within them.

So far there has been no replies.

No one has probably replied because none of us know any work arounds or solutions for the problem. The only thinkg I know is that Roxio is aware of the reported issue.

This problem with MyDVD chapters is NOT fixed in EMC10, and apparently not fixed in 9.1 Patch.

I've noticed that too. It's something they need to correct IMHO.
