elabraham
I see the previous posts on this topic are closed, and I cannot PM the person who was responding since his mailbox is full. I had to reformat my hard drive, and now I can't reinstall Easy CD Creator 6 - it automatically fills in the CD key for me but then says it is disabled. Support tells me that I have to make a toll call on a weekday. No can do. I can't afford to take a day off work for this, and I don't see why I should be expected to when - as far as I can see - I didn't cause this problem. I should be able to reinstall software I purchased, on the same computer that it was previously installed on, without being expected to incur a huge financial penalty and possibly risk my job. I have the CD key, I have all the downloads - this was not caused by any error on my part. Since this seems to be a common problem, why can't they just provide an answer instead of giving me the runaround?

I understand what you need to do is get a ticket for support (one way is if Roxanne isn't helpful, and the option will be offered, or click on "contact"). If you also click on "company", down at the bottom are the mail address and phone number of headquarters, if you want to explain to them. Thanks for trying to answer - it's more than they did. I did put in a ticket. Their reply was that I had to call a non-toll-free number on a weekday. Period. And I can't do that. I really can't afford to take a day off work for this. Heck, I could upgrade the OEM Nero I uninstalled for what taking a day off work would cost me, assuming I was even willing to call in sick in the first place - which I'm not. Now I know why everyone recommends Nero, I guess, if Roxio is always like this. I'm sorry I ever bought it.

(grin) I appreciate your work situation, I will do some checking and see what I can come up with. I am at a bit of a lose though. If you actually formatted your HD there could not be any auto fill in as there would be no memory of it on a formatted HD. Is this a retail V6 CD that you purchased as opposed to an OEM CD? douglas_steffen
I too am having the same problem. My hard drive went bad and when I try to reload it says the Activation server reports that the distribution of the CD Key has been disabled. I checked Roxio's site and they say that you have to re-install the software (which I did) and then resync with their database. I can not find anywhere to resync. Does anyone have any idea on where to re-sync?

Any place on the site that I have found for "contact" sends you to the web self service login. And "company" has NO email address available. I have been trying to find an address to email for about a month. So such luck. They don't provide any number except an international toll call and they provide NO email address. And If you submit a ticket, you get a screwy response. Roxio used to be a good product. But I wouldn't recommend it based on recent problems I've had with support. Even the "Live Chat" generates an error stating that a config file is missing. I happen to be in the business of providing software support. The message here is "leave us alone". That sends customers SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Guest ivanatrox
Installer for retail purchase does not auto fill the CD Key. pm sent for activation server issue and CD key issue jimbogulus - the chat support was taken down for evaluation. I'm not sure about the international toll call that you referred to. Where are you located if you don't mind me asking Ivan

I so agree with your comments, I have been trying to get the same problem sorted out for 5 months. I have put numerous requests for help via Roxanne and I have emailed the company to try to get an answer. I have been trying to get a solution on another part of the forum but, even after getting a response from one of the gurus who said I had not given enough info and wanted a complete breakdown of my operating system, which I put on the screen, they have still been unable to find a solution. In my case I had to uninstall the programs, VideoWave5 and Easy CD 6 but came up against the same problem with CD key error. This resulted in a stop message which blocked the boot up and I had to go into safe mode disable both rom drives which allowed me to boot in the normal way then uninstall the programs again. I then had to enable both rom drives to get the system working properly. I think the support from Roxio sucks. I even ask their sales department to tell me if EMC8 would install if I purchased it and they did not reply. The Sickening part is I really like the programs and find them so easy to use. One part of the answer is VERY easy. EMC 7, 7.5, and 8 require a MINIMUM of WinXP SP1 or Win2000 SP4 to run. If you don't have that, don't even consider it. EMC 7 is the last program by the company then known as Roxio, which bought the rights and software for Napster, and sold the name & software of Roxio to a different company called Sonic. The former company then renamed itself Napstser. Sonic combined EMC 7 with some Sonic programs, resulting in EMC 7.5. Sonic has since issued EMC 8, which was built from scratch, and comments on the boards reflect that. If you have the minimum Operating System, I'd recommand upgrading. If you don't, you can't. Which doesn't address the problem; I'll see if I can get the attention of someone in Roxio, but they rarely visit the older boards. Lynn

Lynn Thanks Lynn, I did leave you the details of my operating system on the other forum board. I run XP with SP2 The remainder of my setup is: MATSHITA DVD ROM SR 8586 - 3322 - \5&6A6BE80&0&0.0.0.0 SONY DVD RW DRU-500A 2OF_______\41453533630353230_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0 AMD Sempron 2400+ 1 Gb RAM 200 Gb x 2 hard drives Nvidia graphics card Soundmax digital audio So I guess I should be able to install EMC8. Does it have the same facilities as the old Easy CD programs?
