Burning Dual Layer with USB drive

I am having a problem burning dual layers in Toast 8.01 with my external NEC-3540A USB drive. I'm using an Intel Macbook with 10.4.10, but I get this error:

The Drive reported an error:

Sense Key = UNIT ATTENTION

Sense Code= 0x29

POWER ON, RESET, OR BUS DEVICE RESET OCCURRED

 

If I burn the disc with the built superdrive I don't have any problems.

Sometimes downloading and applying the Combined System Update from Apple's support site will fix odd USB issues that occur during incremental updates. It does no harm to try.

 

You don't mention if you tried choosing Save as Disc Image and then burn the resulting .toast file using the Image File setting in the Copy window. Give that a try, too.
