cdanteek
Well Then , THANKS FOR YOUR HELP !! " i've also tried Nero and CloneCD and have any problem with them " If you have these other burning programs avaliable and you can adjust the burn speeds in them. My question would be why don't you use them to burn the vcd at a lower speed? cdanteek
darkvador1726
i've tried the Explorer thing , on the Properties the Speed is set on 8x , but on the classic creator it's again on 52X ! well , the Speed is not underlined ( is on a comboBox ) and when i click on it , a list appear with only one option "52X" ( or the maximum speed available ). and when i change the burner by clicking on the Polaroid one , and deselecting TDK , i get all the speeds available . and also when using the "Disc and Device Utilities" , under the Drive Information it says "Current Disk Write Speed 52X" , and under "Supported Read Speed : 48X , 40X , ... " ! still stuck on the maximum speed ... Thanks for your Help
darkvador1726
Unnistalled all of them , reinstalled only Roxio , Tried it on 2.02 firmware , then patched the Engine , tried again , tried on 2.04 firmware , But still stuck on the max Speed
tbrewst
I found an article that said that firmware versions 2.00 and 2.03 got the speed stuck on the 52x max.Version 2.02 allowed all speeds.Maybe it is a firmware problem after all.I know you're on 2.04 and I didn't find a reference to that.I'm not sure if you can go backwards to a different version. If you can and can get your hands on 2.02 it might be worth a try. tbrewst
I googled the drive and I got a hit on a firmware forum. It wasn't a whole article I could find but the blurb said just that. And I do believe he can go backwards.Another thing that TDK advises is to go to PIO mode when flashing bios and then change back to DMA afterwards.I wonder if maybe he's in PIO mode and this is making a difference. Not sure it would make a difference but maybe. DarkVador if you go to this page: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1512 This is where I saw the blurb about the drive You can get the firmware from here or the TDK support pages.Give it a try. Brendon
Darkvador, Have you inserted your blank disc and allowed time for the drive to spin up and read it? My machine shows max CD speed only until the disc has been recognized, and after that it will let me set the speed normally. If I have inserted a DVD the burn speed indicator will change from CD speeds to the DVD speed as soon as the disc has been recognized.
james_hardin
Thanks guys,I try.Don't always get it right and don't know if I did this time but it's worth a try. Key word is IF… Now explain how TDK firmware will change the settings on my Samsung? CORRECTION! That changed as soon as I added media. Then all available speeds became available! Going to have to let you off the hook this time Terry:)

In System Configuration Utility, start, run, type msconfig. If your set to normal startup. Emc8, Nero, and Clonecd could all have app's running trying to control the drive. Since you said the drive speed adjustment works in the other two, a software conflict would be a guess. Two choices remove Nero and CloneCD since you want to use EMC8. Or end anything Nero and CloneCD in task manager and see if it works then. I run selective startup in System Configuration Utility but have monitored it since I built the system. I check it after every program install, uncheck the default app's it puts there ( they all do ). Some programs still run in task manager after there closed out, I reboot to use the other program. cdanteek
ggrussell
Out of curiousity, do you have any other brand of blank CD to try? You don't have to burn it. Just launch Disc Copier and see if there are more speeds available.

tbrewst
If it is software my guess would be Nero as I have CloneCD running on 2 machines with Roxio on them and don't have a problem with either one.Just be careful if you end up running Roxizap because there's a good chance you'll loose your drives in CloneCD if you do. james_hardin
Well , a CD burned at 52X do not function in VCD's , Car audio Sys , " Chaine HI-FI " , .... !and a Burning failure is much recent in Highspeed burning . !! and that => it should not be like that !! so why should i write at the maximum speed when the Program have to give me the choice ? i've also tried Nero and CloneCD and have any problem with them . Check this using Windows Explorer. Examine the Properties for that Drive. Under the Recording tab, Enable Burning – Set it to the speed you prefer. Reboot and see if it changes in Classic. FYI, on my PC the primary burner can be adjusted in Classic but not the secondary one…

tbrewst
Ok,found another article that says the PX Engine insome of the Sonic software could make your drive only show the max speed.Wasn't for your particular drive, but maybe.Try here: PXEngine update Run this update to the engine and see what happens.I had to do a reinstall and had no drives and it worked.Like I said I saw another article that said it works on some drives showimg MAX speed only.Let us know.
