How to maintain Mac icon layout when building 'Mac & PC' DVD with shared data?

dspreadbury

Question

I'm trying to build a data DVD using Toast 8's 'Mac & PC' option. The Mac side needs to be HFS+ (to maintain aliases etc. inside our application), the PC side needs to be ISO9660/Joliet, and two large files (3GB total) need to be shared between the two sides of the disc.

I can build the disc and it works, but I am unable to obtain the custom Finder settings and icon layout I require for the Mac side of the disc.

I am building the Toast project from a Toast temporary partition, but Toast doesn't use the Finder and icon settings of that volume for the final disc.

The result is a poor user experience for our customers, because we are unable to lay out the icons in the DVD window on Mac such that the user can see that they need to drag and drop our application into their Applications folder to install it.

Is there any help out there? The selfservice.roxio.com folks have stopped responding to my tickets.

Thanks!

Daniel
