encountered a problem and needs to close

PBear

Question

I have used MyDVD many times in the past with no problem. Recently out of no where I've been getting the following fatal error message: "VideoWave 9 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." There is no error number and the Click Here for more details provides no clue that I can understand.

This error occurs when I go to the Burn option. The Burn dialogue menu does not open--the error message pops up instead. I have tried loading different AVI files and MPEG2 files. All give the same result as soon as I go for Burn.

Can any one help? Should I just reinstall EMC-9? Thanks in advance. PBear.

You could try a Repair. Add/remove, highlight EMC 9 suite, click change. Click next until yoou get a screen that gives the options modify, repair, remove. Select repair, click next.

You may need the CD, or if you have the downloaded EMC 9 installation file, you may need to extract its contents (e.g. with Winzip or Winrar or similar) to some convenient folder. If the repair sya it can't find some file or other, point it to where you extracted the files.

Hi and thanks for the advice. I'd like to try it but I do not see any "Change" option to click on the Roxio Creator 9 Home page that comes up when I start the suite. I looked under all the menus and options I could tthink of and there is nothing about repair in Help. I guess I need my hand pointed to exactly where it is. Thanks again. Pbear.

I cant help except to say I'm experiencing similar problems with VideoWave. Its buggy as heck. Mostly i get errors trying to convert a big mpg file to a divx avi file for compression to go onto a server for my client. It will work fine for several times and then suddenly i get the exact same error message you described, then incredibly, it will never work again. I have to un-install, re-install, usually that worked.... yesterday it didnt. No matter what I try, it wont rip those files.

I'm beginning to think Roxio is too big of a pocket-knife. I like the DVD builder, the sound editor has some good simple features, and the CD and DVD classic burner is excellent. But VideoWave is just not very stable.

If they could fix videowave, this wold be an excellent program. For now, especially since yesterday when i saw the process for Clean Un-install... yowza. I'd tell friends to look elsewhere for a video editor.
