You cannot write sessions on a DVD the way you can to CD-R media. The way to write multiple times is to either use DVD-RW or DVD+RW media and erase the disc before writing to it, or to get an application such as Retrospect that writes in its own format that only is readable by Retrospect. There also is an application called BurnAgain DVD that I've never tried.

Is there something special I need to do, to get a DVD-RW to play on my home player, like the DVD-R used to? I burned it, and took it home and nothing. I've figured out how to erase it and make it ready for burning again, but do I need to do something once it's burned to make it play?

Thanks,

Dianna

There is nothing you need to do differently with DVD-RW media than you do with DVD-R media (or with the + media). Toast creates a UDF-formatted DVD with a VIDEO_TS folder the same with any media type. It may be that your DVD Player doesn't work with DVD-RW media. In that case I'd try DVD+RW discs.

I'm presuming you burned the DVD-RW in Toast's Video window. If you did not, please let me know what settings you used in Toast.

I did thanks, and thanks for the quick reply. I had no trouble viewing DVD-R, and DVD+R, but I'll try the DVD+RW now. I have been burning shows that once I watch I'm done with and was tired of throwing away expensive DVDs, and figured hey Rewrittable makes sense.

Ah well, Thanks again!

Oops, just realized it was a DVD+RW, cause I had been using DVD+Rs for the longest time, I'll reverse it and see what happens.

Hi

I have never burned a DVD-RW. I use Toast 8 and I want to ask two questions:

1. How do I burn it, as a regular DVD or do I have to set something different in the recorder settings section?

2. How do I erase the data when I want to use it again?

Thanks!

1) As a regular DVD.

2) Click Recorder at the top when Toast is open and click ERASE
