Configuration data for this product is corupt

can not install Creator 7

Question

I kept getting errors when I tried to used my copy for Creator 7. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the program. I had a heck of a time getting it off my computer. Now when I try to install it from my CDs I get the error message "Configuration data for this product is corupt" How can that be? Could there be something left my computer that is causing this error and it thinks the data is corupt when it's not? I ran the clean uninstall that they suggested on Roxio's website.

Check your CD - make a folder anywhere and copy the CD contents to that and, if it copies successfully, run setup.exe from there

If it fails to copy, then your CD is faulty

The computer reads my disk just fine. I can open the disk and see the files. I copied them to a folder on my desktop. I tried to install it from the desktop and got the same error.

OK - had to be certain (seen it happen too many times where the cat has used the CD as a freisbee  )

Try this info (it's in the EMC9 forum but should still work)

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=24606

I did that yesterday. I downloaded the program and ran the clean installer. I deleted all the registry keys that said Roxio and deleted any remaining folders on C: that said roxio. That's why I was surprised when the installation gave me this error. There isn't supposed to be any trace of Roxio left on the computer.

Also, if you have Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Media Player 11, EMC 7 won't work.

I rolled back Media Player to 10 and IE to 6, but I still got the same error when I tried to install it.

One other thing - check in the documents and settings folder for a hidden folder in <username> or admin called application settings (if you go to the folder, click on tools, folder options, view and tick the bit that says 'show hidden files and folders') and delete the roxio folders there
