What features on EMC 9.0 work with updated Vista 64?

jgrobertson

Question

EMC 9.0 had a lot of problems with Vista 64, but Vista 64 had a lot of problems with everything.

Now that MS has released a bunch of updates, two significant ones on Aug 7, and two or three since, are there any reports on EMC 9.0 behavior with the updated Vista 64? Did the updates fix some of the apparent Roxio problems?

I reinstalled Vista after first trying Roxio on it, and I am shy about trying it again unless there are some other who have positive experiences with the updated version of Vista 64.

This might not help a frustrated Vista 64-bit/Roxio user, but I have had EMC 9.0 installed on my Vista 64-bit machine for several months now. All the features work, however I had some quirky events happen which were sorted out (see Vista reinstall below).

In the "gee, that's interesting" category: I also had to do a clean install of Vista (X64, and unrelated to Roxio); the reinstall of EMC 9.0 worked subsequent to the clean Vista install without a problem. In each case of the Vista x64 installs, I had the Roxio install working both prior+post the Vista updates, especially the ones that are supposed to be part of Vista SP1. This clean install seemed to sort out some of the quirks I experienced with my original install. I hope this answers your question jgrobertson. But then again, I gather I must be in the minority with a 64-bit install that is working.

My setup is as follows: Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 4Gb memory, 3xhard drives, 2xmonitors, Asus A8N SLi with an AMD Athlon x2 dual core 4400, Radeon X1800.

Despite my favorable Roxio experience (when compared to some other users who have posted on this site), hopefully the long awaited 9.1 upgrade will solve the kinks for other users.
