What camera are you using with plug & burn? I presume you have plenty of hard drive space. How long does it import before crashing? Or does it crash after the import is complete and the encoding begins?

i'm using a jvc mini dv vcr to import and i have 200 GB on my hard drive and 100 GB on video drive which is my second hard drive. Toast crashes anywhere between 10 minutes and 15 minutes into the record & import. should i try importing with my camera (canon gl2) instead of the mini dv vcr?

I'm actually surprised it works at all with the DV VCR. It looks for a camera to control. I'd expect the camera to work better.

Alternatively you could use the freeware Vidi to capture from the DV VCR or Quicktime Pro and then drag the video file to Toast.
