Successful(?) install of EMC9.0 in Vista 64 bit

Goodwin

Question

In anticipation of release of EMC 9.1 update, I installed EMC 9.0 for the 4th time. Here is how I did it:

Had previously completed a FULL uninstall per my post dated August 8, 2007 in the following link

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=25682

Installed per instructions in smonterjr's post in the following link:

http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?...134&t=25510

My user name in Vista is set up as an administrator.

After completing the install and rebooting I clicked the Roxio EMC icon on the desktop. The program started to load and then a window came up stating "Please wait while Windows configures Roxio Creator Home" The progress bar never went beyond 75% and then the same window opened again. This process repeated several times and then a similar window came up for Roxio RecordNow Data. This repeated several times and then a similar window came up for Roxio RecordNow Tools. This repeated several times and then the computer (without any action by me) rebooted. I repeated the click on the Roxio icon with the same result. This looked like an install failure for the 4th time.

I right clicked on the Roxio icon and selected "Properties". Did not see anything useful. Selected "Advanced" and checked "Run as Administrator". After exiting this window I left clicked on the Roxio icon and the program loaded. At least some of the suite works. I have not tested all of them.

I hope this information helps the many people who have been unable to get EMC 9.0 to work in Vista 64 bit.

've installed mine in Vista x64 straight up without problems and without the tweak.

Did you have all the updates from MS installed? Particularly those of August 7 and later? If you did, then I might give it a shot. Although I now have XP running in a Virtual PC under Vista 64, and I was planning to just install Roxio 9.0 on that.
