No refund

Question

I have tried several times to download Creator 9 without success and in desperation bought a boxed version from a retail outlet and twice requested a return well within the 30 day period which was ignored. I requested a return for the third time and this was eventually denied as apparently it was outside the required period. No account has been made for the delay in replying to my requests or that I have made an alterative purchase of the same product elsewhere (so I am paying twice). In future I will be staying away from this organisation that treats it's customers in such a shabby way.

You should know that while posting here may alert others to your problem, unfortunately, it won't get you any help (if you're still looking for help). This is not Roxio Customer Service so we can't offer you any help on returns.

Since you didn't post what problems you've had to cause you to return the software, I can't help either. If you still plan on trying to work with EMC, post your specific problems and you'll likely get some answers here from fellow users.

I believe the problem was that he was unsuccessful doing the download, so wanted a refund for that version since he purchased a boxed version. At this point, there is no indication of a problem installing or running the boxed version.

I also suggest that is exactly what happened Dave. I don't think that the OP is venting at any problems with the retail boxed copy they bought but rather since they didn't get a refund from the download, and paid for a boxed copy, it was "paying twice". The fact the download didn't work could have been caused by several different user problems (Security software interferrence, Firewalls etc.)

If that is correct, then I suggest that somehow either the refund was not applied for correctly, OR it was not honored for some reason. And that we have no idea of which one caused the problem.

I just had a similar problem with downloading the Creater 9 software. Only the software files downloaded okay, but when I attempted to install it, it reported back that the install file was corrupted. So, I logged back in, and tried to find where I could re-download the file. The screen the instructions tell me to go to does not exist. The link that indicates that it will take me there, instead sends me to a "findmyorder" screen. But, when I enter my order number and password, I am told that the order number does not exist.

I have sent 3 emails to Roxio for help, with absolutely no response. At least I paid with a credit card, and if Roxio continues to refuse to help, then I will simply protest the charge with my credit card company.

OK here is the deal as far as I am concerned. I have worked with IBM, Digital Equipment, Compaq and HP. I am retired now but have been in the computer support business since 1965. I bought Easy Creater 9 from a large chain. It did not install well, it needed a very exhausting de-install and reinstall, and guess what......... it still did not work. I spent a lot of time trying to make this software work. :angry2: The computer I tried was a new HP laptop, It has run all kinds of other applications on it. I am no newbee. As far as I am concerned your product does not work well, it is riddled with problems and you should be ashamed charging $70.

None of us charged anyone anything for anything - unless you see a Roxio logo at the name, none of us work for Roxio - we all bought the stuff ourselves.

HP - did you check to see if there was an OEM version installed first? HP do have a cut down, modified version that MUST be removed before installing the retail program (do a search on the board for 'clean install' to get the recommended procedure)

Also, as someone who has been involved in electronic servicing both digital and analogue for a very long time, I can still make mistakes - did you remember to shut down all running apps before installing - and I do mean ALL (including anti-virus)?

I did the recommended clean de-install, and the install more than once, just on the outside chance that I made a mistake.... I do know I make mistakes, and I shut down my antivirus program, and other applications.

Thanks for your help. This is a forum, and I just want the people that read the forum to see my opinion........ which is, No application that I have ever used, has this much baggage, is this difficult to install and run on a standard system. and I believe theyare hiding the problems by having a user forum like this instead of a real support line. If they have one, then I have been unable to find the number or even a chat dialog with the company directly.
