Not all images displaying during playback

Question

I'm using MyDVD Basic v9, which I like a lot. I tried to upgrade to the full version of Creator 9, but had tons of problems with MS Vista so I asked and received a refund. I will try to upgrade again when the kinks are worked out.

Anyway, I made a DVD using MyDVD Basic. It's fine but about four images (jpegs) don't show at the beginning in one of the Slideshows I made (with background music).

I'd appreciate any information about how to get this to function correctly.

btw. how do you delete background music from a slideshow? I couldn't, so deleted the original sound file...and that's when my problems began.

Thanks.

Lots of similar type problems with a lot of successful cures. Since you have Vista, you probably have a new computer. Do you know what kind of video card/chip you have? If so, go to the web site for the card/chip manufacturer and update the drivers for it. If you already have the latest drivers, you may want to remove the current drivers and reinstall them in case they got corrupted.

If your drivers are OK, then there are two things that you want to change. Go to the top menu and select tools, then options, and then put a dot next to software. Try encoding again. If that works, perhaps you should consider adding a better video card.

While you are considering, when you go to burn the project to a disc, select to encode to an ISO file. Name it and set the location you want it. Once it encodes, copy the ISO file to a DVD blank using Disc Copier. Using that procedure separates the encoding from the burning so your computer only does one thing at a time.

When you are setting up your project, use the project setting to not normalize the audio. I'm not sure why you could not delete the audio in the Slide Show. Was it something you added? If you purchased it from an on-line store, it is DRM protected and you can't use it. After you do a lot of editing or make a major change, go to the top menu, select tools, then options and delete the proxy files. The proxy files are a staging ground for the program so it opens the project quicker. Sometimes they get messed up. If you delete them, they will be almost immediately be rebuilt with the correct and new information.

If the audio was on the menu, go to the top menu items and click on DVD Menu. You have an option to delete the menu audio. You may also want to read this about making menus.

Whew! I may have addressed to many issues at once. Please read this reply carefully; I think I addressed all the issues.

BTW, EMC 9.1 that you can get from the web site is Vista certified (by MS). EMC 10 is due out in about a month also.
