I bought a USB hard drive to hold my backups of server shares that are mapped to a drive letter on my PC. The external drive is formatted as FAT32, and I left it that way to facilitate moving the drive to another machine in case of a disaster. I created backup jobs that ran fine when I was logged in and monitoring the jobs. When the backup job ran with me logged in, the number part of the file name incremented after every 4GB of data. (Related to the FAT32 format, I am guessing...) I then scheduled the jobs to run during the night, while I was sleeping. (That's what computers are supposed to do, right?) The share that was supposed to backup last night is about 80GB. Last night's job created the first backup file and ended. (The report has had a little info removed to keep it private, but the removed info looks like I would expect it to look.) The drive and directory info was correct, but file 00002 was never created, as far as I can see. The report shows:
Job Name: Family Full Backup
Backup Job Started - 9/1/2007 12:01:38AM
Backup Device: File Backup Device
Backup Product: Sonic Backup MyPC 6.0.0 600B83H
Backup Type: Full - all selected files backed up will be marked as archived
Backup Media: Family Full Backup 00001.qic - 9/1/2007 12:01AM (<x>:\<dir>\Family Full Backup 00001.qic)
Unable to create a snapshot (shadow) copy of files that may be in use, reverting to no snapshot backup.
(<mac>) : The attempted operation is not supported for the type of object referenced.
Unattended Action: Operation was canceled. The backup (running as user <machine\user>) was not connected to a visible monitor and no default response was available at the message:
The current backup destination (<x>:\<dir>\Family Full Backup 00002.qic) has reached it's maximum file size.
Please enter a file name where the backup can continue.
Oeration Completed - No ( Cancelled )
Backup Job Ended - 9/1/2007 12:22:24AM
I can't find anything in the knowledgebase and I the search in the forum is not working this morning.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction? I want to have these jobs run at night without any input from me and without me being logged into the PC.
