Trouble with recording LPs

jkdrummer

Question

I am recording with a cable from my stereo receiver out through the headphone jack and input into EMC9 through my microphone jack. I can see and set the levels but when I play it back I can hardly hear it and the sound is distorted and crackly - almost like it's over modulated - but the levels seem fine. I have a Sigma Tel C-Major sound card and I'm running WinXP. Any help is appreciated!

Why are you not using line out to line in? Laptop? Don't use the headphone jack use the line out from yuor receiver. That way you have control over the volume. If you must use the mic jack on your laptop, start with a low input and increase it as necessary.

People with that sound card do not have luck with this program. That card runs only at 32 bits where this program likes 16 bit. Search this form for SigmaTel to see if anyine got it running correctly. You can also Google for information.

Dell? Go to their site and download and install the latest drivers.
